Real Sociedad Women and RCD Espanyol Women shared the points in a 1-1 draw in the Spanish Primera División de la Liga de Fútbol Femenino on Saturday, 24 October 2026, with a second-half equaliser cancelling out Espanyol’s earlier breakthrough.

Match overview

Real Sociedad Women controlled much of the possession and created the more sustained pressure, but Espanyol Women defended with determination and took the lead against the run of play. The home side responded after the interval, increasing the tempo and finding an equaliser that their overall performance deserved. Neither team could find a winner in the closing stages.

Key moments

• Real Sociedad threatened early through a series of corners and long-range efforts.
• Espanyol took the lead with a well-worked counterattack and a composed finish inside the box.
• The equaliser arrived in the second half after Real Sociedad increased the intensity and forced an opening in the penalty area.
• Both sides had late chances, but the goalkeepers made important saves to keep the score level.

Tactical story

Real Sociedad’s approach was built on possession and patient build-up, with their full-backs pushing high to create overloads. Espanyol sat deeper after taking the lead and looked to spring forward on the break. The home side’s response was to move the ball more quickly and attack the space behind Espanyol’s midfield, which eventually produced the equaliser.

Standout performers

Real Sociedad’s midfield worked hard to recycle possession and keep the team on the front foot. Espanyol’s goalkeeper was one of the standout players, making several saves under pressure, while their goalscorer showed excellent composure on the counter.

Season impact

The draw leaves both teams with mixed emotions. Real Sociedad Women will be pleased with the character shown after conceding first but frustrated by their inability to convert dominance into three points. RCD Espanyol Women will take encouragement from a disciplined away performance and a valuable point in Liga F.
