RCD Espanyol Women secured a valuable 1-0 victory over CD Alaves Women in the Spanish Primera División de la Liga de Fútbol Femenino (Liga F) on October 3, 2026. A solitary goal at the Ciutat Esportiva Dani Jarque was enough to claim all three points in a closely fought encounter.

Match Overview

Espanyol Women came into the match looking to assert their home advantage, while Alaves Women aimed to frustrate and counter. The first half was a cagey affair, with both defenses on top. Espanyol controlled possession but struggled to break down a well-organized Alaves backline. The visitors had a few half-chances from set pieces but could not test the goalkeeper.

The Decisive Goal

The deadlock was broken in the 58th minute. Espanyol's midfielder played a clever through ball to the striker, who timed her run perfectly and slotted the ball past the onrushing goalkeeper. It was a goal of real quality, born from patience and precision. Alaves appealed for offside, but the goal stood.

Defensive Resilience

After taking the lead, Espanyol showed their defensive steel. Alaves pushed more players forward, but the home side's back four remained compact. The goalkeeper was called into action twice, making a smart save from a free-kick and then claiming a cross under pressure. Espanyol's midfield also dropped deeper to protect the lead, limiting Alaves to shots from distance.

Key Players

Espanyol's goalscorer was the obvious heroine, but their captain in defense was immense, winning every aerial duel. The goalkeeper's clean sheet was her reward for a confident display. For Alaves, their central midfielder worked tirelessly, but the team lacked a cutting edge in the final third.

League Standings Impact

This win lifts Espanyol Women up the Liga F standings, keeping them in contention for a higher finish. Alaves Women remain in a mid-table position but will be disappointed not to have taken a point. The three points are a significant boost for Espanyol's season.
