Madrid CFF Women 1-0 CD Alaves Women: Narrow Win Keeps Madrid CFF in European Hunt

Madrid CFF Women edged CD Alaves Women 1-0 in the Spanish Primera División de la Liga de Fútbol Femenino on September 27, 2026, securing three hard-fought points at Estadio Fernando Torres. A single first-half goal proved enough in a match defined by tactical discipline, sharp goalkeeping, and Madrid CFF's ability to protect a narrow lead.

The win keeps Madrid CFF in the conversation for European qualification places, while Alaves Women left with frustration after competing well for long spells but failing to convert their best moments into goals.

Match Overview

Madrid CFF started brightly and took the lead in the 23rd minute through Karen Araya, who arrived at the edge of the box to meet a loose ball and drive it low into the corner. The goal was the product of sustained pressure, with Madrid CFF winning several second balls and forcing Alaves into hurried clearances.

Alaves responded with a more compact defensive shape and began to find space on the counter. Their best chance came shortly before halftime, but a fine save from the Madrid CFF goalkeeper preserved the lead. The second half was more balanced, with Alaves pushing numbers forward in the final 20 minutes.

Key Moments

The decisive moment came in the 23rd minute. Madrid CFF's pressure forced a partial clearance, and Araya's first-time strike gave the goalkeeper no chance. Alaves nearly equalized in the 41st minute with a header from a cross, but the Madrid CFF goalkeeper reacted quickly to tip it over the bar.

In the second half, Alaves created two half-chances from set pieces, but Madrid CFF defended their box with composure. The home side also threatened on the break, and only a strong save kept the score at 1-0 in the closing stages.

Tactical Story

Madrid CFF used a patient build-up to draw Alaves out before attacking through the half-spaces. Their midfielders rotated constantly, making it difficult for Alaves to track runners. Defensively, Madrid CFF dropped into a compact 4-4-2 without the ball, limiting central penetration and forcing Alaves wide.

Alaves were well organized and dangerous on the counter, but they lacked the final pass in the attacking third. Their best moments came from set pieces and crosses, yet Madrid CFF's center-backs dealt with most of the aerial danger.

Standout Players

Karen Araya's goal was the difference, and her control in midfield helped Madrid CFF manage the tempo. The Madrid CFF goalkeeper made two important saves, including the first-half stop that kept the clean sheet intact. For Alaves, the goalkeeper and center-backs kept the score respectable, while their wingers caused problems in transition.

Season Impact

Three points and a clean sheet represent a professional result for Madrid CFF, who remain in the chase for a top-five finish and possible European qualification. Alaves Women stay in the lower half of the table but showed enough defensive structure to suggest they can pick up points in tighter matches if they improve their finishing.
