Freeport claimed a hard-fought 1-0 win over LISCR FC in the Liberia First Division on Friday, 23 October 2026, with a second-half goal and a disciplined defensive performance deciding a tightly contested encounter. The three points give Freeport a valuable boost in the league standings, while LISCR FC were left to rue a spell of pressure that produced plenty of possession but no breakthrough.

Match overview

Freeport set up with a compact shape and looked content to absorb early pressure, allowing LISCR FC to see more of the ball in the opening exchanges. The visitors moved the ball neatly through midfield and tried to stretch the home defence with switches of play, but clear chances were limited as Freeport’s back line held its line well and protected the central areas.

The game’s decisive moment arrived in the second half when Freeport turned defence into attack with a quick transition. A low ball into the box was met by Emmanuel Kollie, who converted from close range to give the home side the lead. From there, Freeport managed the game with maturity, dropping deeper without becoming passive and forcing LISCR FC to play in front of their defensive block.

Key moments

• First-half control: LISCR FC enjoyed the better of the possession but struggled to find a clear opening against Freeport’s well-organised midfield and defence.
• Second-half breakthrough: Emmanuel Kollie’s close-range finish gave Freeport the lead after a sharp attacking transition.
• Late resistance: Freeport goalkeeper Abraham Sarnor produced a crucial save late on, while defender Alvin Kpadeh made an important clearance under pressure.
• Penalty appeal: LISCR FC appealed for a spot-kick in the closing stages, but the referee waved play on as Freeport held firm.

Tactical story

Freeport’s approach was built on defensive discipline and quick counter-attacks. The home side kept their midfield compact, denied LISCR FC space between the lines and looked to release their wide players whenever possession was won. That plan worked especially well after the goal, when Freeport were able to sit deeper and invite pressure before looking for chances on the break.

LISCR FC, by contrast, had plenty of the ball but lacked the final pass in the attacking third. Their midfield circulated possession well, yet Freeport’s defenders stayed patient and forced LISCR FC into crosses from wider areas rather than clear sights of goal. The visitors increased the tempo late on, but the equaliser never arrived.

Standout players

Emmanuel Kollie will take the headlines for the winning goal, but his movement and hold-up play were important throughout. Abraham Sarnor was equally valuable in goal, making a decisive late save, while Alvin Kpadeh led a back line that protected the narrow lead with composure. For LISCR FC, the midfield work rate and willingness to keep probing stood out, even if the final product was missing.

Season impact

The result hands Freeport three important points and strengthens their position in the Liberia First Division table. A clean sheet will be especially pleasing, underlining the defensive foundations that made the win possible. For LISCR FC, the defeat is a frustrating setback: they showed enough control to take something from the game but were undone by one crucial moment and a lack of cutting edge in the final third.
