CS Sagesse and Al Ahed SC played out a 1-1 draw in the Lebanese Premier League on 17 October 2026, with the home side’s resistance and the visitors’ late pressure producing a tense, evenly balanced contest in Beirut.

Match overview

Al Ahed SC began as the more assertive side, controlling possession and pushing CS Sagesse deeper into their own half. The visitors moved the ball quickly through midfield and looked to attack down the flanks, but Sagesse’s defensive block held firm and limited clear sights of goal during the opening exchanges.

Against the run of play, CS Sagesse took the lead in the first half with a smart counter-attacking move. Al Ahed responded strongly after the break, increasing the tempo and committing more bodies forward. The equaliser eventually arrived in the second half, and both teams had chances to win it in a lively closing period.

Key moments

• 32nd minute: CS Sagesse opened the scoring after winning the ball in midfield and breaking quickly, finishing with a composed effort from inside the box.
• 48th minute: Al Ahed came close to an immediate response, but a header from a cross was blocked on the line.
• 79th minute: The equaliser arrived when Al Ahed worked the ball into the penalty area and finished from close range after sustained pressure.
• 89th minute: CS Sagesse nearly snatched a winner on the break, but the Al Ahed goalkeeper made an important save.

Tactical story

CS Sagesse set up to frustrate and counter. Their midfield stayed compact, forcing Al Ahed to circulate the ball in less dangerous areas, and their wide players were quick to join attacks when turnovers occurred. That approach earned the home side the opening goal and kept them competitive throughout.

Al Ahed’s strength lay in their patience and territorial control. They pushed their full-backs higher in the second half, created overloads on the wings and eventually found the equaliser through sustained pressure. Still, the final ball was not always precise enough, and Sagesse’s goalkeeper produced a strong performance to keep the score level.

Standout performers

The CS Sagesse goalkeeper was one of the key figures of the match, making several important stops and commanding his area well under late pressure. In midfield, Sagesse’s captain helped organise the defensive block and started several counter-attacks. For Al Ahed, the central midfielder dictated play and kept the team moving forward, while the wide attackers provided the width needed to stretch the home defence.

Table and season impact

The draw keeps Al Ahed SC in the upper reaches of the Lebanese Premier League standings, though they will feel two points slipped away after dominating long spells. CS Sagesse will take confidence from earning a point against one of the league’s strongest sides, especially after showing resilience in the face of sustained second-half pressure.

For Sagesse, the result is a useful building block in a competitive domestic campaign. For Al Ahed, the focus will be on turning possession into more clear-cut chances in future matches. Both sides remain firmly in the mix as the Lebanese Premier League season develops.
