Al Fahaheel 2-0 Al-Shabab: Hosts Grind Out Professional Kuwaiti Premier League Win

Al Fahaheel SC secured a solid 2-0 victory over Al-Shabab in the Kuwaiti Premier League on Sunday evening, with goals from Yousef Al-Enezi and Fahad Al-Rashidi sealing a deserved three points. The hosts controlled large periods of the match and defended their lead with maturity, denying Al-Shabab any route back into the contest.

The win strengthens Al Fahaheel’s position in the league table and extends their positive run of form. Al-Shabab, meanwhile, were left to rue a lack of cutting edge in the final third despite some encouraging spells of possession.

Match overview

Al Fahaheel started brightly and pressed high, forcing Al-Shabab into several early turnovers. The hosts’ midfield trio dictated the tempo, switching play from side to side and creating space for the wide attackers. The opening goal arrived in the 34th minute when Yousef Al-Enezi timed his run into the box perfectly and converted a low cross from the right.

Al-Shabab responded with a period of pressure before half-time, but Al Fahaheel’s goalkeeper and centre-backs dealt with the danger. The second half followed a similar pattern: Al Fahaheel sat slightly deeper, absorbed pressure and looked to counter. The second goal came in the 78th minute, with Fahad Al-Rashidi finishing calmly after a swift break down the left.

Key moments

• 12th minute: Al Fahaheel’s first chance came from a free-kick that was headed just over the bar.
• 34th minute: Yousef Al-Enezi opened the scoring with a composed finish from close range.
• 45+1 minute: Al-Shabab’s best chance of the first half was blocked bravely by a Al Fahaheel defender.
• 78th minute: Fahad Al-Rashidi doubled the lead on the counter-attack.
• 86th minute: Al-Shabab forced a diving save from the Al Fahaheel goalkeeper as they searched for a consolation.

Tactical story

Al Fahaheel SC set up with a balanced 4-2-3-1 and controlled the central areas. Their double pivot protected the back four and allowed the attacking midfielders to drift into dangerous positions. Without the ball, they pressed intelligently and forced Al-Shabab to play long, which suited the hosts’ physical defenders.

Al-Shabab (KUW) had more possession in the second half but struggled to break down a well-organised block. Their crosses were cleared, and their shots from distance were mostly comfortable for the goalkeeper. Al Fahaheel’s game management in the final 15 minutes was particularly impressive, as they slowed the tempo and kept the ball in the corners.

Standout players

Yousef Al-Enezi was a constant threat for Al Fahaheel, and his opening goal settled the home side’s nerves. Fahad Al-Rashidi’s energy and late finish capped a strong all-round display. Defender Abdullah Al-Saleh was commanding at the back, while Al-Shabab’s goalkeeper made several good saves to keep the score respectable.

Table and season impact

The three points lift Al Fahaheel SC in the Kuwaiti Premier League standings and reinforce their credentials as a side capable of competing for a top-half finish. For Al-Shabab, the defeat highlights the need for more creativity in the final third. They remain a threat on their day, but this was a night when Al Fahaheel’s organisation and efficiency proved decisive.
