Phnom Penh Crown (W) and Svay Rieng (W) played out a goalless draw in the KH WF League on Sunday, 20 September 2026, a result that leaves both sides unbeaten in the early part of the campaign but frustrated by their failure to convert territorial dominance into goals.

Match Overview

Played in humid late-afternoon conditions, the game was a genuine contest between two of the strongest women's club sides in Cambodia. Phnom Penh Crown, backed by their vocal home support, enjoyed more of the ball and created the better openings, while Svay Rieng defended with discipline and looked genuinely dangerous whenever they broke at speed.

For long stretches the match resembled a chess game. Crown probed patiently through midfield triangles, Swve Rieng held their shape and waited for turnovers, and the closing stages brought the game's most frantic moments as both teams pushed for a winner.

Key Moments

• Crown's early openings: The hosts forced a string of corners inside the first quarter of the match, but a combination of brave goalkeeping and last-ditch clearances kept the game level.
• Svay Rieng's counter-attack: The visitors' best chance came against the run of play, a rapid break ending with a shot dragged just wide of the far post.
• The save of the match: Early in the second half, Crown's goalkeeper produced a superb reaction stop to deny a close-range header, keeping her clean sheet intact.
• Late pressure: Crown pushed bodies forward in the final 15 minutes, sending in a succession of crosses, but Svay Rieng's centre-backs dealt with everything thrown at them.

Tactical Story

Phnom Penh Crown set up to dominate possession, using their wide players to stretch the Svay Rieng back line and their central midfielders to recycle the ball quickly. The approach worked in terms of control, but the final pass repeatedly arrived a fraction late, and the visitors' compact defensive block proved difficult to break down through the middle.

Svay Rieng's plan was clear and well executed: defend deep in a disciplined 4-4-2 shape, press selectively in wide areas, and attack in numbers the moment they won the ball back. It produced the game's two clearest counter-attacking chances and underlined why they are among the tougher opponents in the Cambodian women's top flight.

Standout Players

Crown's captain was the outstanding player on the pitch, dictating play from midfield and constantly looking to play the incisive pass. Their goalkeeper also deserves praise for a composed, authoritative display, claiming crosses confidently and producing the game's best save.

For Svay Rieng, the two central defenders were immense, winning headers, blocking shots and organising the back line throughout. Their goalkeeper's handling was secure, and their most advanced forward was a persistent threat on the break, running the channels tirelessly for the full 90 minutes.

What It Means for the League

The draw keeps both clubs in the leading group of the KH WF League table and preserves their unbeaten records, but in a title race that is often decided by small margins, two dropped points at home could prove significant for Phnom Penh Crown. Their dominance of possession in matches like this must eventually translate into goals.

Svay Rieng, meanwhile, will travel home satisfied with a hard-earned away point and a clean sheet against one of the strongest attacking sides in the division. The result sets up their next meeting as a fixture to circle on the calendar — a head-to-head that could carry real weight in the final standings.
