KSL FC Women Secure 2-0 Away Win Over Gideon Starlets

KSL FC Women claimed a composed 2-0 victory against Gideon Starlets (W) in the Kenya Women’s Football League on 24 October 2026. Two well-taken goals and a solid defensive display gave the visitors a deserved three points in a match they controlled for long spells.

Gideon Starlets (W) worked hard and had moments of pressure, especially after the break, but they lacked the final touch in front of goal. KSL FC Women were more clinical when their chances arrived and managed the game maturely once they had the lead.

Match Overview

Gideon Starlets responded with renewed energy but struggled to create clear openings against a well-organised back line.

The second goal arrived in the 64th minute through Faith Achieng, who capitalised on a quick counterattack. That cushion allowed KSL FC Women to sit deeper and protect their advantage, while Gideon Starlets pushed more players forward in search of a route back into the game.

Tactical Story

KSL FC Women’s midfield control was the foundation of the result. They pressed at the right moments, kept their shape when Gideon Starlets had possession and used the flanks effectively to stretch the home defence. Their two goals came from different patterns: one from patient build-up and one from a rapid transition.

Gideon Starlets (W) showed good intent in the second half and pushed their full-backs higher, but that also opened space for KSL FC Women to counter. The hosts delivered several crosses into the box, yet the visiting centre-backs dealt with most of them comfortably.

Standout Performers

Mercy Wanjiru set the tone with the opening goal and was a persistent threat with her movement. Faith Achieng added the second and worked tirelessly off the ball. KSL FC Women’s goalkeeper also deserved credit for a key save at 2-0 that prevented a tense finish.

For Gideon Starlets (W), the midfield worked hard to keep the team competitive and the wide players showed willingness to take on defenders. The home side’s best performer was arguably their centre-back, who made several important interceptions.

What the Result Means

The win gives KSL FC Women a valuable away result in the Kenya Women’s Football League and another clean sheet to build on. Their ability to score at important moments and defend their lead will be important as the season develops.

Gideon Starlets (W) remain with lessons to take from the match. They competed well in spells but need more penetration in the final third. The next fixture offers a chance to turn effort into points.
