Herk Sport Hasselt and Stade Mouscron Share Spoils in Belgian Women's First Division Opener

Herk Sport Hasselt (W) 0-0 Stade Mouscron (W) — The Belgian Women's First Division season continued with a cagey goalless draw between Herk Sport Hasselt and Stade Mouscron on August 29, 2026. Neither side could break the deadlock, but the competitive nature of the match offered plenty of encouragement for both teams as they eye their respective goals for the campaign.

Played under the lights at Hasselt's home ground, the match was a tight, tactical affair that never quite caught fire in the final third. Yet the quality of the football was high, with both teams showing clear tactical organization and a willingness to press high up the pitch.

Match Overview

Herk Sport Hasselt entered the match looking to build momentum after a solid start to the season. They dominated possession for large periods, moving the ball patiently from side to side in an attempt to stretch the Mouscron defense. Stade Mouscron, however, set up with a notably disciplined low block, making themselves difficult to break down and relying on quick transitions to threaten on the counter.

The best early chance fell to the home side when a corner kick was met with a firm header that forced a reflex save from the Mouscron goalkeeper. As the half progressed, the match became increasingly physical in midfield, with both sides competing fiercely for second balls. The referee let play flow where possible, contributing to an open albeit goalless contest.

Second Half Increase in Intensity

The second half saw more urgency from both benches. Herk Sport Hasselt introduced fresh attacking options, while Mouscron pushed forward more boldly in search of a goal. The visitors came agonizingly close when a long-range strike hit the crossbar, sparking a frantic final twenty minutes.

Despite the momentum shifts, neither goalkeeper was seriously troubled in the closing stages. Herk Sport Hasselt had a penalty appeal waved away after a challenge inside the box, and Mouscron wasted a promising free-kick situation as the clock ran down. The final whistle confirmed a point apiece.
