Cesena W edged Brescia Women 4-3 in a breathless Italian Serie B Femminile contest at the Stadio Dino Manuzzi on 18 October 2026, turning a chaotic second half into a memorable home victory. In a match that swung repeatedly, Cesena’s ability to strike late proved decisive as they claimed all three points in a seven-goal thriller.

Match overview

Cesena started with intent and were rewarded early when Sofia Bianchi found space inside the penalty area and finished confidently. Brescia responded well, equalising midway through the first half through Camilla Ferri, and the game quickly developed into an open, end-to-end affair. Cesena regained the lead from the penalty spot before Brescia struck on the stroke of half-time to send the teams in level at 2-2.

The second half was just as frantic. Brescia took the lead for the first time just after the hour mark, but Cesena refused to fold. A composed equaliser set up a grandstand finish, and the hosts found the winning goal in the closing minutes to cap a performance full of attacking intent and no little resilience.

Tactical story

Cesena’s high pressing caused Brescia problems early on, forcing turnovers in wide areas and creating a steady stream of crosses into the box. Brescia gradually adjusted, dropping deeper and looking to spring quick counter-attacks through Ferri and Moretti. That approach nearly paid off, especially during a dominant spell after the interval when Brescia bypassed midfield with direct passes and threatened every time they broke forward.

What ultimately separated the sides was Cesena’s willingness to keep committing players forward. Even after falling behind at 3-2, the hosts maintained their width and continued to overload the flanks. The introduction of fresh legs in midfield gave Cesena more control in the final 20 minutes, and their late winner came from exactly the kind of fast transition they had threatened throughout.

Standout players

• Sofia Bianchi (Cesena W): Two goals, including the late winner, and a constant threat with her movement in behind.
• Camilla Ferri (Brescia Women): Involved in all three Brescia goals, scoring twice and assisting another.
• Marta Conti (Cesena W): Energetic in midfield, won the penalty and scored the crucial 74th-minute equaliser.
• Alice Moretti (Brescia Women): A bright outlet on the wing and scorer of Brescia’s second goal.

What it means

The victory gives Cesena W an important confidence boost and keeps them in touch with the upper half of the Serie B Femminile table. For Brescia Women, the defeat is a painful one after they had fought back to lead in the second half, but their attacking display offered plenty of encouragement. In a league where momentum can shift quickly, Cesena’s ability to win a match of this nature could prove valuable as the season develops.
