SS Angri and ASD Citta Di Solofra played out a hard-fought 0-0 draw in the Italy Amateur Eccellenza Puglia on Wednesday, 28 October 2026, with both defences producing resolute performances under the lights.

The match was a classic Eccellenza Puglia battle: compact, physical, and decided by fine margins. Angri enjoyed the better of the early possession and pushed forward in search of an opener, while ASD Citta Di Solofra defended with discipline and looked dangerous on the counter-attack. Neither side could find the finishing touch, but the point adds another chapter to a tightly contested regional campaign.

Match overview

SS Angri set the tempo in the opening quarter, moving the ball quickly through midfield and trying to stretch the Solofra back line with switches of play. The hosts won several corners and free-kicks in promising areas, but the visitors defended their box with determination and limited clear sights of goal.

ASD Citta Di Solofra grew into the game as the first half wore on. Their midfielders began to win second balls and launch quick breaks, forcing Angri to retreat. The second half followed a similar pattern, with both sides enjoying spells of pressure but lacking the final pass or finish to break the deadlock.

• Result: SS Angri 0-0 ASD Citta Di Solofra

• Clean sheets: Both teams

Key moments

Angri’s best chance of the first half came from a set-piece, when a header from the centre of the box flashed just wide of the upright. Solofra responded with a quick counter-attack down the right, but the final cross was cut out before a teammate could apply the finishing touch.

The second half brought more urgency. Angri thought they had broken through from a corner, only for the effort to be ruled out for an infringement in the box. At the other end, Solofra’s most dangerous moment arrived on the break, but Angri’s goalkeeper stood tall to make a crucial save. In the closing stages, both teams pushed for a winner, but the defensive lines held firm.

Tactical story

The game was a study in compact defending. SS Angri tried to build patiently from the back and use their wide players to create overloads, but ASD Citta Di Solofra’s midfield dropped deep to close the central lanes. That forced Angri into more crosses, which the Solofra centre-backs dealt with comfortably for much of the night.

Solofra’s plan was built on resilience and transitions. They sat in a narrow block, invited pressure, and looked to release runners into the channels when turnovers occurred. The approach worked well defensively, but it also meant the visitors had fewer bodies in the box when those counter-attacks reached the final third. Angri, for their part, will feel they had enough territory to win the match but lacked the cutting edge to turn control into goals.

Standout performers

Angri’s goalkeeper was one of the key figures of the match, making a fine second-half save and commanding his area well from set-pieces. The home side’s central defenders also impressed with their aggression in duels, stepping out to intercept passes and preventing Solofra from settling into a rhythm.

For ASD Citta Di Solofra, the centre-back pairing was outstanding. They defended crosses with authority, tracked runners diligently, and made several important blocks in the penalty area. The midfield also deserved credit for the way it protected the defence and kept the game compact, limiting Angri’s space between the lines.

What the point means

The draw gives both teams something to build on in the Eccellenza Puglia standings. Angri will view it as a missed opportunity to turn home pressure into three points, but the clean sheet is a positive foundation. Solofra, meanwhile, will take confidence from a disciplined away performance and a hard-earned point.

In a league where home form and defensive solidity often shape the promotion and relegation picture, results like this can matter at the end of the season. Both sides now move on to their next fixtures with clear lessons: Angri need to be more ruthless in the final third, while Solofra will look to combine their defensive organization with a little more attacking ambition.
