Agerola claimed a 2-1 away win over Sporting Ponte in Italy Amateur Eccellenza Puglia on 25 October 2026, scoring late to settle a closely fought contest. The visitors recovered from conceding an equaliser to take all three points with a decisive finish in the final minutes.

Match overview

Agerola started confidently and took the lead midway through the first half after a patient passing move opened up the Sporting Ponte defence. The finish was precise, guided into the bottom corner from the edge of the area. Sporting Ponte responded with urgency, pressing higher and forcing a series of corners before eventually equalising just after the half-hour mark. A cross from the right was met with a strong header that gave the goalkeeper no chance.

The second half was cagey, with both sides cautious about leaving space behind. Sporting Ponte had the better of the early possession but struggled to create clear chances against an organised Agerola back line. As the game wore on, the visitors began to find gaps on the counter. The winning goal arrived in the 84th minute when a quick break ended with a low shot across the goalkeeper and into the far corner.

Tactical story and standout performers

Agerola’s compact defensive shape was the foundation of the result. Their midfield worked hard to close the central channels, forcing Sporting Ponte into wide areas where crosses were often met by a well-drilled back line. The visiting goalkeeper was calm under pressure, claiming several dangerous deliveries and producing a key save in the second half. The Agerola No. 10 was the standout attacking player, linking midfield and attack and providing the assist for the opening goal.

Sporting Ponte will feel they deserved more from their second-half spell of pressure, but they lacked a cutting edge in the final third. Their equaliser was well worked, and the crowd responded to the team’s energy, but Agerola’s game management in the closing stages proved decisive. The visitors slowed the tempo, won important fouls and then struck with a ruthless counter-attack.

Eccellenza Puglia table impact

The three points are a significant boost for Agerola in the Eccellenza Puglia standings, especially coming away from home against a direct competitor. Sporting Ponte, meanwhile, are left to reflect on a match in which small details made the difference. In a division known for its physicality and tactical discipline, the ability to win away matches of this nature is often what separates the promotion contenders from the mid-table pack.

Agerola will take confidence from a complete away performance: early control, resilience after conceding and a late winner. Sporting Ponte must regroup quickly, but their overall display offered enough encouragement for the fixtures ahead.
