Tactical Story

Imolese set up in a 4-3-3 and looked to dominate possession through their midfield trio. They focused their attacks down the right side, where Fabbri and Ricci combined effectively. Cava Ronco used a 4-4-2 and tried to press Imolese’s deep midfielders, but they struggled to maintain that intensity for the full ninety minutes. Their equaliser came from a rare moment of sustained pressure and a precise cross.

In the second half, Imolese adjusted by pushing their full-backs higher and overloading the wide areas. That change created the space Ricci needed for the winner. Cava Ronco switched to a more direct approach late on, but Imolese’s centre-backs won the majority of aerial duels and cleared their lines under pressure.

Standout Players

Matteo Ricci was the standout performer for Imolese, capping a creative display with the winning goal. Luca Fabbri’s early strike settled the home side’s nerves and his movement caused problems throughout. In defence, Imolese’s goalkeeper produced a crucial save in the 86th minute to preserve the victory.

Antonio De Luca was Cava Ronco’s best player, scoring the equaliser and working tirelessly in midfield. The visitors also received a strong performance from their left winger, who delivered the assist and caused Imolese problems with his pace. However, Cava Ronco’s inability to convert late chances ultimately cost them a point.

What It Means

Imolese move up the Eccellenza Puglia standings with a morale-boosting home win. The three points keep them in touch with the early-season pace-setters and underline their ability to grind out narrow victories. For SSD Futball Cava Ronco, the defeat is a tough one to take, but their performance showed they can compete with the division’s stronger sides. Both teams will now turn their attention to the next round of fixtures.
