Rimini secured a 2-0 away victory against Imolese in the Italy Amateur Eccellenza Puglia, delivering a measured and professional performance that combined solid defending with two well-timed goals. Imolese had spells of possession but were unable to break down a disciplined Rimini side that grew stronger as the match wore on.

Rimini take control before the break

The visitors started brightly, pressing Imolese’s ball-carriers and forcing turnovers in midfield. Their reward came midway through the first half when Luca Bianchi found space at the edge of the area and curled a precise effort into the bottom corner. Imolese responded with renewed urgency, but their attacks were too often slowed by Rimini’s compact defensive block.

Rimini doubled their advantage after the interval with a goal that reflected their tactical discipline. A quick transition from defence to attack ended with Matteo Rinaldi finishing confidently from inside the box. From that point, the visitors managed the game expertly, limiting Imolese to half-chances and keeping the tempo low.

Key moments

• 22nd minute: Luca Bianchi opens the scoring for Rimini with a well-placed curling shot.
• 39th minute: Imolese’s best chance of the first half is blocked bravely inside the area.
• 67th minute: Matteo Rinaldi makes it 2-0 after a swift counter-attacking move.
• 81st minute: Rimini goalkeeper Alessandro Conti makes a fine save to deny Imolese a route back into the game.

Tactical story

Rimini’s success was rooted in defensive organisation and efficient use of the ball. They allowed Imolese to have possession in harmless areas, then pressed aggressively when the ball entered midfield. That approach produced turnovers and allowed Rimini to attack quickly, with their wide players stretching the opposition defence.

Imolese struggled to find rhythm in the final third. Their build-up play was patient, but the lack of movement between the lines made it easier for Rimini to defend. The home side improved after the break, but the second goal arrived at the worst possible moment and forced them to chase the game against a side content to protect its lead.

Standout performers

Luca Bianchi was the standout attacker, opening the scoring and constantly finding space between the lines. Matteo Rinaldi added the crucial second goal, while Alessandro Conti delivered a confident goalkeeping display. Imolese’s midfielders worked hard to keep the ball moving, but they lacked the penetration needed to trouble Rimini’s back line.

What the result means

The 2-0 win gives Rimini three valuable points and reinforces their credentials in the Italy Amateur Eccellenza Puglia. For Imolese, the defeat is a lesson in efficiency: possession must be turned into clear chances, especially against opponents who defend as well as Rimini did. The result will be reflected in the standings and gives Rimini momentum heading into their next fixtures, while Imolese must regroup and find more creativity in attack.
