Castenaso Calcio produced a commanding 3-0 home victory over AC Osteria Grande in Italy’s Amateur Eccellenza Puglia on 18 October 2026, combining ruthless finishing with a disciplined clean sheet. The result gave Castenaso a convincing three points and underlined their ability to control matches from midfield while creating chances in key moments.

Match overview

Castenaso started brightly and took the lead early, settling any nerves and forcing AC Osteria Grande to chase the game. The home side dominated possession in the first half, using quick combinations in central areas to break through Osteria Grande’s defensive lines. A second goal just before half-time gave Castenaso a comfortable cushion and changed the visitors’ approach after the interval.

The second half followed a similar pattern. Castenaso managed the game intelligently, keeping their shape and limiting Osteria Grande’s access to the final third. A third goal midway through the second period effectively ended the contest, allowing the home side to see out the remaining minutes with control and confidence.

Key moments

• 9th minute: Castenaso took an early lead with a well-worked move down the right, finished calmly inside the penalty area.
• 44th minute: The home side doubled their advantage just before the break, punishing Osteria Grande after a turnover in midfield.
• 67th minute: Castenaso made it 3-0 with a composed finish following a sustained spell of pressure.
• 82nd minute: Osteria Grande’s best chance arrived late, but the Castenaso goalkeeper preserved the clean sheet.

Tactical story

Castenaso’s midfield control was the foundation of the win. The home side pressed with discipline, won second balls and moved possession from side to side to create gaps. Their full-backs pushed high, giving the attack width and allowing the central midfielders to arrive in dangerous positions. Osteria Grande struggled to press effectively and were often left chasing shadows in the middle third.

Defensively, Castenaso were organised and alert. They defended the box well, dealt with crosses comfortably and limited clear-cut chances. The clean sheet was as valuable as the goals, reflecting a complete team performance rather than a one-sided attacking display.

Standout performers

Castenaso’s attacking midfielder was at the heart of most good moves, drifting into space and linking play with sharp passes. The centre-back pairing also deserved credit for their composure and positioning, while the goalkeeper made a late save to complete a satisfying shutout. For AC Osteria Grande, there were few positives on the day, though their goalkeeper prevented an even heavier defeat with several saves.

Season impact

The 3-0 victory strengthens Castenaso’s position in the Eccellenza Puglia standings and adds valuable goal difference. It also sends a message about their quality at home, where they look capable of turning strong spells into decisive results. AC Osteria Grande will need to regroup quickly, particularly defensively, as they look to avoid similar scorelines in the coming weeks.
