Camaiore Calcio and Castelnuovo Garfagnana (Youth) played out an entertaining 2-2 draw in the Italy Amateur Eccellenza Puglia on Saturday, October 3, 2026. Four goals, a late equaliser, and plenty of attacking intent made this one of the most watchable matches of the round. Camaiore twice took the lead, but the young Castelnuovo side showed remarkable resilience to fight back and earn a point with a late goal.

Match Overview

Camaiore Calcio started brightly and took the lead in the 18th minute through Marco Pellegrini, whose shot from the edge of the box found the bottom corner. The home side continued to press and could have doubled their advantage, but Castelnuovo Garfagnana's youthful energy kept them in the contest. The visitors equalised in the 39th minute when Luca Bertolucci finished off a quick counter-attack, silencing the home crowd.

The second half followed a similar pattern. Camaiore regained the lead in the 63rd minute through Alessio Tognoni, who headed home from a corner. But Castelnuovo refused to lie down, pushing more players forward in the final 15 minutes and grabbing a deserved equaliser in the 88th minute through Simone Dini. The closing moments were frantic, but neither side could find a fifth goal.

Key Moments

• 18th minute: Marco Pellegrini gave Camaiore Calcio the lead with a well-placed low strike.
• 39th minute: Luca Bertolucci equalised for Castelnuovo Garfagnana, finishing calmly after a fast break.
• 63rd minute: Alessio Tognoni restored Camaiore's advantage with a powerful header from a corner.
• 88th minute: Simone Dini scored a dramatic late equaliser for the visitors, sparking wild celebrations.

Tactical Story

Camaiore Calcio set up in a 4-3-3 and looked to dominate possession, using their wide forwards to stretch Castelnuovo's defence. They created numerous chances but were repeatedly caught on the break by the visitors' pacey attackers. Castelnuovo Garfagnana, despite their youth, showed tactical maturity, sitting deep and springing forward with direct, vertical passes. Their equalisers came from exactly that approach: quick transitions and fearless running at defenders.

Camaiore's inability to manage the game after taking the lead will frustrate their coach. Twice they were ahead and twice they allowed their opponents back into the match. The substitutions made by both managers added fresh energy, but it was Castelnuovo's bench that made the greater impact, with the late equaliser coming from a player who had been on the pitch for only a few minutes.

Standout Players

Marco Pellegrini was Camaiore's most dangerous player, scoring one and creating several other chances with clever movement. Alessio Tognoni's aerial presence was a constant threat, and his header was a highlight of the match. For Castelnuovo Garfagnana, Luca Bertolucci and Simone Dini both took their goals with composure beyond their years, while midfielder Francesco Nardi dictated the tempo of their counter-attacks.

Season Impact

The draw leaves both teams with plenty to build on in the Eccellenza Puglia standings. Camaiore Calcio will be disappointed to drop two points from a winning position, especially at home, and must improve their game management if they are to challenge at the top. Castelnuovo Garfagnana (Youth), meanwhile, can take great encouragement from their fighting spirit and attacking quality. If they can tighten up defensively, they will be a tough opponent for anyone in the division.
