ASD Savignanese 1-0 Vis Novafeltria was decided by a single goal in a tight, hard-fought Italy Amateur Eccellenza Puglia encounter on 4 October 2026.

Match Overview

Eccellenza football in Puglia is famously competitive, and this fixture delivered exactly the kind of contest the division is known for: disciplined defending, limited clear chances and one decisive moment. ASD Savignanese edged it by the narrowest of margins, taking all three points in front of their own supporters.

Vis Novafeltria will feel they deserved something from the game. They competed well for long stretches, kept the ball reasonably well and restricted their hosts to a small number of genuine openings. But in a match where chances were at a premium, the difference was the finishing.

Key Moments

• A cautious opening: Both sides began with caution, prioritising defensive shape over adventure, and clear chances were difficult to come by.
• The breakthrough: ASD Savignanese found the decisive goal, converting their best opportunity of the match with a well-worked move that unlocked a stubborn defence.
• Novafeltria respond: The visitors pushed forward after falling behind, enjoying more possession but struggling to find a way through a well-organised back line.
• Holding on: Savignanese managed the closing stages expertly, slowing the tempo and denying their opponents any clear sight of goal.

Tactical Story

ASD Savignanese set up with a compact defensive structure and looked to spring forward quickly once possession was recovered. Their midfield worked diligently to screen the back four, forcing Vis Novafeltria into wide areas where crosses could be dealt with comfortably.

Vis Novafeltria's approach was more possession-based. They circulated the ball patiently, tried to draw their opponents out, and looked to create overloads on the flanks. It worked up to a point, but the final pass was frequently misplaced, and the lack of a genuine centre-forward presence in the box proved costly.

Standout Performers

The Savignanese defence was the foundation of the win. Central defenders were dominant in the air, full-backs timed their challenges well, and the goalkeeper dealt calmly with everything that came his way. The goalscorer, meanwhile, produced the game's one moment of real quality — a reminder that in low-scoring amateur fixtures, individual brilliance is often the difference.

For Vis Novafeltria, the midfield trio kept the team ticking and rarely gave the ball away cheaply. Their frustration will be that so much good build-up play ended without a meaningful shot on target.

Season Impact

Three points of this nature can be extremely valuable in the Eccellenza Puglia standings, where the margins between promotion hopefuls and mid-table sides are slim. Savignanese will take confidence from winning a tight game, especially one in which they had to defend for long periods.

Vis Novafeltria leave empty-handed but not disgraced. If they can add a sharper cutting edge in the final third, results in closely fought fixtures will start to turn in their favour.

A 1-0 home win, then: not glamorous, but the kind of result that builds seasons.
