ASD Salaria FC claimed a hard-fought 1-0 victory over SSD Ferentino Calcio in the Italy Amateur Eccellenza Puglia on 4 October 2026, with a solitary second-half goal proving enough to separate two well-matched sides.

Match Overview

On a warm autumn afternoon, ASD Salaria FC welcomed SSD Ferentino Calcio for a league fixture that promised to be a tight, tactical affair. Both teams entered the match with similar ambitions, looking to climb the Eccellenza Puglia standings, and the first half reflected that parity. Chances were at a premium as the defences dominated, with midfield battles fierce and little space afforded in the final third.

Salaria FC saw more of the ball but struggled to break down a disciplined Ferentino back line that dropped deep and defended the width of the penalty area. The visitors, meanwhile, looked to hit on the counter and had a couple of half-chances from set-pieces. The goalless first half was a fair reflection of the balance of play, but the home side upped the tempo after the interval and eventually found the breakthrough.

Key Moments

• 18th minute: Salaria FC’s first real effort on target comes from a free-kick, but the Ferentino goalkeeper parries it away.
• 35th minute: Ferentino’s best chance of the half falls to their striker, who shoots narrowly over after a quick break.
• 57th minute: The decisive goal arrives. A driving run from midfield draws defenders, and the ball is slipped wide before a low cross is converted at the near post.
• 71st minute: Ferentino push forward in search of an equaliser, forcing a corner that is headed just wide.
• 86th minute: Salaria almost seal it on the counter, but their forward drags his shot past the far post.

Tactical Story

ASD Salaria FC set up in a 4-3-1-2 formation, looking to overload the centre and use their full-backs to provide width. The game plan was patient: they circulated the ball, waited for Ferentino’s midfield to shift, and then attacked the spaces. The winning goal came from exactly that pattern, with the midfield runner attracting attention before releasing the wide player. Defensively, Salaria were compact and rarely allowed their opponents a clear sight of goal.

SSD Ferentino Calcio operated with a 4-4-2 that prioritised defensive solidity. Their back four held a high line at times and caught Salaria offside on several occasions, but as the game progressed, they dropped deeper and invited pressure. The introduction of fresh legs in attack gave them more impetus late on, but the equaliser never arrived. The visitors will feel they deserved a point for their defensive resilience, but they lacked the cutting edge to punish Salaria’s occasional lapses.

Standout Players

The Salaria FC central midfielder was the standout performer, driving his team forward and providing the assist for the only goal. His energy and willingness to run beyond the strikers caused Ferentino problems all afternoon. At the back, the home side’s captain led by example, winning several important aerial duels and clearing his lines under pressure.

For Ferentino, the goalkeeper kept his side in the contest with a series of saves, while the right-back was tireless in both defensive and attacking phases. The striker worked hard with limited service, but the team’s inability to create clear chances ultimately cost them.

Season Impact

The three points lift ASD Salaria FC into a more promising position in the Eccellenza Puglia table, keeping them in touch with the playoff places. For SSD Ferentino Calcio, the narrow defeat leaves them needing to turn good defensive displays into positive results. With the season still in its early stages, both clubs have plenty of time to shape their campaigns, but this match underlined the fine margins that often decide amateur league fixtures. Salaria will take confidence from a clean sheet and a disciplined performance, while Ferentino must regroup quickly ahead of their next outing.
