Grosseto started strongly and took an early lead, but Casarano responded well and equalised before half-time. Casarano pushed for a way back into the match but were ultimately punished for leaving space at the back.

• 61st minute: Matteo Rossi restored Grosseto’s lead with a fine strike from the edge of the penalty area.

Tactical story

Grosseto U19 used a high-energy pressing approach that forced Casarano into several rushed clearances. Their midfielders worked hard to win the second ball, and the wide players provided constant width. In possession, Grosseto looked to move the ball quickly and attack the space behind Casarano’s full-backs.

Casarano’s equaliser came during their best spell of the first half, when they pressed higher and forced Grosseto into mistakes. However, the visitors could not maintain that intensity after the break. Grosseto adjusted their shape, controlled central areas better and created the clearer chances in the final 30 minutes.

Standout performers

Luca Bianchi was the decisive player for Grosseto U19, scoring twice and stretching the Casarano defence throughout. Matteo Rossi’s goal was a moment of real quality, while the goalkeeper’s second-half save protected the lead at a crucial moment. Francesco Greco was Casarano’s brightest performer, taking his goal well and working tirelessly in attack.

What it means

The win keeps Grosseto U19’s Youth Champions Cup campaign on track and gives the players valuable experience in a competitive knockout-style environment. Casarano U19 will take encouragement from their first-half response but must improve defensively if they are to bounce back in their next fixture. For Grosseto, the challenge now is to carry this attacking form into the next round.
