USD Latte Dolce and Anzio Calcio 1924 played out a hard-fought 1-1 draw in Italian Serie D on 18 October 2026, with both sides taking a point from a match that offered contrasting styles and plenty of late tension.

The home side enjoyed more possession and created the clearer chances after the break, but Anzio’s disciplined defensive display and sharp counter-attacking kept the visitors in the contest. In the end, a share of the spoils felt like a fair reflection of an evenly balanced Serie D fixture.

Match overview

Anzio started brightly and took the lead in the 34th minute. After winning the ball in midfield, the visitors moved it quickly to Matteo Caruso, who cut inside from the left and curled a precise shot beyond the goalkeeper. It was a goal of real quality and gave Anzio a platform to defend.

Latte Dolce responded well, controlling possession for long periods and probing down both flanks. Their persistence paid off on 67 minutes when Simone Chessa arrived at the back post to convert a low cross. The equaliser lifted the home crowd, and Latte Dolce pushed hard for a winner in the final 20 minutes.

Anzio’s goalkeeper Lorenzo Bianchi made two important saves late on, including a strong stop from a close-range header, while Latte Dolce’s Francesco Sanna was also called into action at the other end during a rare Anzio breakaway. Neither side could find a decisive second goal, and the match ended level.

Key moments

Tactical story

Latte Dolce’s game plan centred on patient build-up and getting their full-backs high to stretch Anzio’s defensive block. It worked for long spells, especially after the interval, but the home side lacked a little precision in the final third until Chessa’s equaliser. Anzio, meanwhile, sat compact in a 4-4-2 shape and looked to spring forward through quick transitions.

The visitors’ midfield worked tirelessly to screen the back four, and their ability to limit clear-cut chances away from home was impressive. Latte Dolce will feel they did enough to win, but Anzio’s organisation and resilience earned them a valuable point on the road.

Standout players

Simone Chessa was Latte Dolce’s most influential attacker, taking his goal well and constantly finding space between the lines. Lorenzo Bianchi deserved praise for Anzio, producing a composed goalkeeping performance and making the key saves that preserved the draw. Matteo Caruso also stood out for the visitors with his direct running and excellent opening goal.

Serie D table impact

Both teams add a point to their Serie D tally, but the draw will feel different for each camp. Latte Dolce may see it as two dropped points after dominating possession, while Anzio will view it as a solid away result against a difficult opponent. As the standings continue to develop, performances like this could prove important in a tightly contested season.
