Ternana vs ASD Tau Calcio Altopascio: Rossoverdi Cruise to 3-0 Serie D Victory

Ternana produced a dominant display at the Stadio Libero Liberati, defeating ASD Tau Calcio Altopascio 3-0 in their Serie D encounter on Sunday evening. The Rossoverdi were in control from start to finish, with two second-half goals putting a comfortable gloss on a professional performance.

Match Overview

With a crowd of over 6,000 fans urging them on, Ternana knew that only a win would keep them in touch with the Serie D promotion places. Tau Calcio Altopascio arrived with a reputation for organised defending, but they were overwhelmed by the pace and precision of the home side's attacking play. The three points keep Ternana firmly in the hunt for an immediate return to higher divisions.

Key Moments

Ternana took the lead in the 18th minute when Matteo Rossi pounced on a loose ball in the box and rifled it into the roof of the net. The goal settled any early nerves and allowed the Rossoverdi to dictate the rhythm.

The second goal arrived shortly after the break. In the 52nd minute, Luca Bianchi doubled the advantage with a header from a corner, rising highest at the near post. Ten minutes later, Rossi turned provider, threading a pass to Alessandro Conti, who calmly slotted past the goalkeeper to make it 3-0.

Tau Calcio's best moment came in the 75th minute when a powerful shot was tipped over the bar by Ternana's goalkeeper, preserving the clean sheet.

Tactical Story

Ternana lined up in a 4-3-3, with wingers hugging the touchline to stretch the opposition. The midfield trio of Federico Marchetti, Davide Fontana, and Simone Ricci controlled possession and constantly fed the front three. Tau Calcio defended deep in a 5-4-1, but their lack of an outlet made it difficult to relieve pressure.

The Rossoverdi's high press forced numerous turnovers, and their quick ball circulation created overloads in wide areas. The second half was one-way traffic, with Ternana managing the game expertly.

Standout Players

Matteo Rossi was the star of the show with a goal and an assist, his movement causing constant problems. Luca Bianchi was a menace from set-pieces, while centre-back Andrea Galli marshalled the defence with authority. For Tau Calcio, goalkeeper Marco Esposito made several saves to prevent a heavier defeat.

Table and Season Impact

This victory takes Ternana to 17 points from nine matches, placing them second in Serie D and just two points behind the leaders. Tau Calcio Altopascio remain in mid-table, with their away form a concern. Ternana next face a tricky trip to a fellow promotion hopeful, while Tau Calcio return home looking to bounce back.
