Sestri Levante and ACSD Saluzzo played out a goalless draw in Italian Serie D on 25 October 2026, with both sides cancelling each other out in a tense, tactical encounter. The point was enough to keep Sestri Levante’s unbeaten run intact, while Saluzzo will take encouragement from a solid defensive display on the road.

Match overview

The game was short on clear-cut chances but high on intensity, particularly in midfield. Sestri Levante enjoyed more possession and looked to build patiently from the back, while Saluzzo sat deep and looked to spring quick counter-attacks. Neither side found the final pass often enough, and the goalkeepers were rarely tested despite the honest effort from both teams.

Key moments

• 18th minute: Sestri Levante worked the ball neatly to the edge of the box, but the resulting shot was blocked by a last-ditch challenge.
• 36th minute: Saluzzo’s best opening came from a corner, with a glancing header flashing just past the post.
• 62nd minute: Sestri Levante struck the upright after a flowing move down the left flank.
• 88th minute: Saluzzo’s goalkeeper produced a fine reflex save to deny a late winner from close range.

Tactical story

Sestri Levante’s midfield rotation asked questions of Saluzzo’s defensive discipline, but the visitors held their shape well and limited space in behind. Saluzzo’s compact 4-4-2 made it difficult for the home side to find central penetration, forcing Sestri Levante into wide areas where crosses were comfortably defended. The game became a battle of patience, and neither team was willing to commit too many bodies forward in the closing stages.

Standout players

Sestri Levante’s central defender Riccardo Serra was commanding in the air and composed on the ball, while Saluzzo’s goalkeeper Giacomo Ferri earned his side a point with two crucial saves. The midfield anchors on both sides also deserve credit for the discipline that kept the game tight.

Table and season impact

The draw adds a useful point to both teams’ tallies in a competitive Serie D campaign. Sestri Levante remain difficult to beat, but will want to turn possession into goals in the weeks ahead. Saluzzo, meanwhile, can build on a clean sheet away from home as they look to establish consistency.
