SCD Progresso Calcio endured a chastening evening at home on September 20, 2026, falling to a comprehensive 0-3 defeat against ASD Seravezza Calcio in Italian Serie D. The visitors produced a disciplined and ruthless away performance, scoring in each phase of the match to leave with all three points and leave the home side searching for answers.

Seravezza Seize Control in Emilia-Romagna

From the opening whistle, Seravezza looked the more assertive side. Their midfield pressed high, forcing Progresso into hurried clearances, and the breakthrough arrived inside the first quarter of an hour. Once the first goal went in, the visitors never looked like surrendering their advantage. Progresso, backed by their home support, tried to respond but found themselves repeatedly undone by quick transitions and precise finishing.

The 21:00 kick-off under the lights at the Stadio Comunale gave the match a lively atmosphere, but the home crowd was silenced early and often. Seravezza’s game plan was clear: win the ball back quickly in wide areas and attack the space behind Progresso’s full-backs. It worked to perfection.

Match Overview

Seravezza lined up in a flexible 4-3-3, with the front three interchanging positions to drag Progresso’s back four out of shape. Progresso started in a 4-2-3-1, hoping to control possession through the middle, but they were overrun in central areas. The visitors’ numerical advantage in midfield allowed them to dictate tempo and create a steady stream of chances. By the time the final whistle blew, the scoreline was a fair reflection of the balance of play.

Key Moments

• 12th minute – Matteo Fabbri opens the scoring: A sharp turn on the edge of the box and a low drive into the bottom corner gave Seravezza the lead.
• 38th minute – Luca Fiorentini doubles the advantage: A quick counter-attack ended with Fiorentini slotting past the advancing goalkeeper.
• 78th minute – Andrea Baldini seals it: A towering header from a corner made it 3-0 and ended any lingering hopes of a Progresso comeback.

Tactical Story

Seravezza’s high press was the defining feature of the match. They allowed Progresso’s centre-backs to have the ball but cut off passing lanes into midfield, forcing long balls that were easily mopped up. When they won possession, they attacked with purpose. Progresso’s midfield duo struggled to track runners, and the back four was repeatedly exposed. The home side’s best chance came from a set-piece in the 52nd minute, but a fine save from the Seravezza goalkeeper preserved the clean sheet.

Standout Players

Matteo Fabbri was the architect of Seravezza’s victory, not only scoring the opener but also providing the assist for the second. His movement between the lines was a constant problem for Progresso. Luca Fiorentini’s pace in behind kept the defence honest, while Andrea Baldini’s physical presence in both boxes was decisive. For Progresso, the goalkeeper made several good stops to keep the score respectable, but the outfield players struggled to match Seravezza’s intensity.

What the Result Means for the Serie D Table

This away win lifts Seravezza into the upper reaches of the Serie D standings, strengthening their push for a playoff spot. For Progresso, it is a setback that leaves them looking over their shoulder and needing a response in their next fixture. The manner of the defeat—particularly the ease with which Seravezza created chances—will be a concern for the coaching staff. Serie D is a marathon, not a sprint, but dropped points at home can prove costly in the race for promotion.

Progresso will need to regroup quickly. Their next match offers an opportunity to bounce back, but they must find a way to protect their defence better and create more clear-cut chances at the other end. Seravezza, meanwhile, will travel home with confidence soaring after a near-perfect away performance.
