Scandicci claimed a 2-1 victory over San Donato Tavarnelle in Italian Serie D on 25 October 2026, with a late goal settling a tightly contested match. Scandicci led early, were pegged back after the break, and then found the decisive moment in the closing stages to take all three points.

Match overview

Scandicci started with purpose and took the lead in the first half when a well-worked move down the left ended with a composed finish. The home side’s pressing unsettled San Donato Tavarnelle, and Scandicci created several half-chances to double their advantage before the interval. San Donato, however, stayed within reach and improved after the break.

The equaliser arrived midway through the second half when San Donato Tavarnelle found space in midfield and produced a sharp attacking sequence. That goal changed the momentum, but Scandicci responded well. As the match moved into its final phase, Scandicci pushed forward again and found the winner with a well-placed effort late on.

Key moments

• Scandicci took the lead in the first half after a flowing move and a confident finish inside the box.
• San Donato’s goalkeeper made a fine save to prevent a second goal before half-time.
• San Donato Tavarnelle equalised after the break with a quick attack that exposed space in the Scandicci defence.
• Scandicci’s winner came late in the second half, finishing off a spell of sustained pressure.

Tactical story

Scandicci’s game plan was built on width and quick combinations in the attacking third. Their left-sided players caused problems throughout, and the early goal came from exactly that kind of overload. However, Scandicci’s willingness to push full-backs forward also left space for San Donato to exploit on the counter, which led to the equaliser.

After San Donato scored, Scandicci regained control by slowing the tempo and recycling possession more patiently. Their late winner came from a more measured build-up, with midfield runners arriving in the box at the right moment. San Donato defended bravely but could not hold out under the final wave of pressure.

Standout performers

Scandicci’s left winger was the standout attacking player, involved in the opening goal and a constant threat in one-on-one situations. The central midfielder also deserves praise for controlling the tempo and driving the team forward late on. For San Donato Tavarnelle, the goalkeeper kept them in the contest with important saves, while their forward worked tirelessly and scored the equaliser.

Season impact

The win gives Scandicci a valuable three points in the Serie D standings and reinforces their ability to respond after conceding. For San Donato Tavarnelle, the late defeat is a tough one to take, but their second-half performance showed character. In a division where fine margins decide results, Scandicci’s late winner could prove to be an important boost for their season.
