Sambiase Grind Out 1-0 Win Over Nissa FC in Serie D

Sambiase claimed a narrow but valuable 1-0 victory over Nissa FC in Italian Serie D on 25 October 2026, with a second-half goal settling a tense, tightly contested encounter. The home side defended with discipline and took the one clear chance that came their way, leaving Nissa to rue a night of possession without penetration.

Match Overview

The game was played at a high tempo from the start, but clear openings were rare. Nissa saw more of the ball in midfield and tried to stretch the pitch through their full-backs, while Sambiase sat compact and looked to spring forward on the counter. The decisive moment arrived in the 63rd minute when Luca Mancuso converted a low cross from the right side of the penalty area, guiding the ball beyond the Nissa goalkeeper.

Key Moments

• 63’ – Goal: Mancuso finishes a quick Sambiase move down the right, scoring the only goal of the match.
• 78’ – Nissa chance: A header from a corner strikes the post and is cleared to safety.
• 85’ – Save: Sambiase goalkeeper Salvatore Greco reacts well to push a curling effort around the post.
• 90+3’ – Late pressure: Nissa send bodies forward, but Sambiase defend the final corner comfortably.

Tactical Story

Sambiase set up in a compact 4-2-3-1 shape, with the two holding midfielders protecting the centre-backs and forcing Nissa into wide areas. Nissa’s 4-3-3 asked questions early, but their final ball was often delayed, allowing the home defence to recover. As the match wore on, Sambiase’s discipline became the story: they blocked crosses, won second balls, and managed the closing stages with maturity.

Standout Players

Mancuso will take the headlines for the goal, but Greco’s late save was equally important. In defence, Antonio Ferraro produced a commanding performance, winning several aerial duels and reading danger well. For Nissa, midfielder Giuseppe Romano was the most inventive player on the pitch, though his efforts went unrewarded.

Season Impact

The three points lift Sambiase’s confidence and strengthen their position in the Serie D standings, while Nissa miss the chance to build momentum. In a division where away points are precious, Nissa will need to turn possession into goals quickly, while Sambiase can take real encouragement from a gritty clean sheet.
