ACD SantAngelo produced a determined second-half comeback to beat Pro Sesto 2-1 in Italian Serie D on Sunday evening. Trailing at the interval, the visitors raised their intensity after the break, equalised through a well-worked move and found a late winner that silenced the home crowd.

Match overview

Pro Sesto started brightly and were rewarded for their early pressure when they opened the scoring in the 18th minute. The home side moved the ball with purpose and looked capable of adding to their lead, but SantAngelo stayed within touching distance by defending resolutely and threatening on the break.

The second half was a different story. SantAngelo pushed their midfield higher, forced Pro Sesto into mistakes and equalised shortly after the restart. With the game stretched, both sides had chances, but it was the visitors who found the decisive moment late on to complete a valuable away win.

Key moments

• 18th minute: Pro Sesto took the lead with a flowing move and a confident finish inside the penalty area.
• 36th minute: SantAngelo’s first real chance came from a free kick, but the effort cleared the crossbar.
• 52nd minute: The visitors equalised after winning the ball high up the pitch and converting from close range.
• 68th minute: Pro Sesto pushed forward in search of a second goal, forcing two important saves from the SantAngelo goalkeeper.
• 84th minute: SantAngelo scored the winner with a low strike after a quick counter-attack.

Tactical story

Pro Sesto’s first-half performance was built on quick combinations and overlapping runs from full-back. They found space in wide areas and created several promising crossing opportunities. However, they failed to turn that control into a second goal, and that proved costly.

SantAngelo’s response after half-time was impressive. Their midfield pressed more aggressively, cutting off Pro Sesto’s passing lanes and forcing longer balls forward. The equaliser gave them belief, and their willingness to counter at speed ultimately produced the winning goal. Pro Sesto will look back at their missed chances and the ease with which they were broken down in transition.

Standout performers

SantAngelo’s goalkeeper was excellent in the second half, making two crucial saves to keep his side level before the winner. The visiting midfielder who drove forward for the equaliser was also central to the comeback, combining energy with sensible distribution. Up front, the match-winner showed composure to finish under pressure.

Pro Sesto’s attacking midfielder was their brightest player, creating chances and linking play intelligently. The home captain tried to drive the team forward, but the hosts lacked the same cutting edge after their early goal.

Serie D table impact

The three points are a significant boost for SantAngelo, who showed the kind of resilience needed to compete in Serie D. Away victories after falling behind can build momentum, and this result will give the squad confidence heading into their next fixtures. For Pro Sesto, the defeat is a missed opportunity, especially after a strong start. They remain capable of climbing the standings, but consistency in front of goal will be essential.

The 2-1 scoreline may have been tight, but SantAngelo’s second-half response made them worthy winners.
