Nissa FC 1-2 Reggina: Reggina Edge Tight Serie D Contest

Reggina secured a 2-1 away victory over Nissa FC in Italian Serie D on Sunday evening, with a late goal deciding a hard-fought contest. Nissa FC fought back from an early setback to equalise, but Reggina’s experience and composure in the final stages proved decisive.

The result adds another important win to Reggina’s season and reinforces their reputation as one of the stronger sides in the division. Nissa, meanwhile, were left to reflect on a performance that had spirit and moments of quality but lacked the final touch needed to take a point.

Match Overview

Reggina started strongly and took the lead through Marco Santoro, who finished neatly after a patient passing move. The visitors controlled the early rhythm, but Nissa grew into the game and equalised through Salvatore Greco, whose strike lifted the home crowd.

Both sides had chances after the break, and the match became increasingly open. Nissa pushed for a second goal, but Reggina defended with discipline and struck late through Antonio Carbone. The goal silenced the home support and secured a valuable three points for the away side.

Key Moments

• Early control: Marco Santoro gave Reggina the lead with a composed finish.
• Nissa response: Salvatore Greco equalised to bring the home side back into the game.
• Open second half: Both teams traded chances as the contest stretched.
• Late winner: Antonio Carbone scored the decisive goal for Reggina.

The winning goal came after Reggina forced a corner and kept the ball alive in the box. Nissa failed to clear fully, and Carbone reacted quickest to finish from close range.

Tactical Story

Reggina’s midfield controlled possession for long periods and looked to create overloads on the flanks. Their patient build-up drew Nissa forward before they switched play quickly. Nissa, by contrast, relied on energy and direct running, which worked well in spells but left them exposed when attacks broke down.

In the final 20 minutes, Reggina’s bench made a difference. Fresh legs in midfield helped them regain control, and their late pressure eventually produced the decisive moment. Nissa will feel they defended too deep in the closing stages, inviting the visitors onto them.

Standout Players

Antonio Carbone’s late goal made him the match-winner, but Marco Santoro’s early strike and all-round movement were equally important for Reggina. In midfield, the visitors’ ability to keep possession under pressure stood out. For Nissa, Salvatore Greco was the brightest performer, taking his goal well and driving his team forward.

Season Impact

For Reggina, the win is a strong statement in Italian Serie D and keeps them firmly in the race near the top of the table. Away victories in tight matches are often crucial over the course of a promotion campaign. Nissa FC remain with work to do after another narrow defeat. Their performance showed that they can compete with strong opposition, but converting promising spells into points will be the key challenge in the coming weeks.
