Mezzolara Rescue Late Point in 1-1 Draw with ASD Terranuova Traiana

Mezzolara and ASD Terranuova Traiana drew 1-1 in Italian Serie D on October 25, 2026, with the hosts scoring late to cancel out Terranuova’s earlier opener. The match at Stadio Pietro Zucchini was decided by fine margins and a strong finish from the home side.

Match overview

ASD Terranuova Traiana started brightly and took the lead with a well-executed attacking move, while Mezzolara struggled to find their rhythm in the first half. The visitors defended well and looked comfortable protecting their advantage, but Mezzolara’s persistence eventually paid off with an equalizer in the closing stages.

The 21:30 kickoff produced a tense contest, with both teams aware of the importance of the points. Mezzolara controlled more of the ball after halftime, but Terranuova’s compact shape and quick counterattacks kept the game in the balance until the final minutes.

Key moments

• 22nd minute: ASD Terranuova Traiana took the lead with a low finish after a smart through ball split the Mezzolara defense.
• 39th minute: Mezzolara responded with a header from a cross, but the ball went narrowly over the bar.
• 57th minute: Terranuova nearly doubled their lead on the break, forcing a strong save from the Mezzolara goalkeeper.
• 81st minute: Mezzolara equalized after sustained pressure, with a close-range finish following a scramble in the box.
• 90th minute: Both sides had half-chances in stoppage time, but neither could find a winner.

Tactical story

Terranuova Traiana’s game plan revolved around defensive discipline and quick transitions. They sat deep when needed, limited Mezzolara’s space in central areas and looked to release their forwards with direct passes. That approach worked well for much of the match and produced the opening goal.

Mezzolara, however, gradually increased their tempo after the break. They pushed their full-backs higher, delivered more crosses into the box and forced Terranuova deeper. The equalizer came from exactly that kind of pressure, as a prolonged spell around the penalty area ended with the ball being turned in from close range.

Standout performers

Mezzolara’s goalkeeper made an important save at 1-0 to keep the hosts within reach, while their midfielders kept pushing the team forward in the second half. Terranuova’s central defenders were outstanding for long periods, winning headers and blocking shots, and their forward caused problems with his movement and hold-up play. The visitors’ goalkeeper also handled several crosses well before the late equalizer.

Serie D table impact

The draw gives both clubs a point in the Serie D standings and leaves each with mixed emotions. Mezzolara will be pleased with the character shown to fight back from a goal down, while ASD Terranuova Traiana will feel they did enough to hold on for the win. With the table remaining tight, both sides will view the next match as an opportunity to build momentum and improve their position.
