Mar Ratase and Montecchio Maggiore drew 1-1 in Italian Serie D on Sunday, October 25, 2026, with the home side fighting back after conceding early. The point reflected a game of contrasting styles, as Mar Ratase controlled much of the ball while Montecchio Maggiore threatened on the break.

Match overview

Montecchio Maggiore started brightly and took the lead in the first half with a well-worked attack. The visitors won the ball in midfield, moved it forward quickly and found space between the centre-backs. A low finish gave them a 1-0 advantage and forced Mar Ratase to respond.

Mar Ratase reacted positively. The home side increased their tempo, pushed their full-backs higher and began to create chances from wide areas. Several crosses caused uncertainty in the Montecchio box, but the visitors defended bravely and were helped by some important saves from their goalkeeper.

The equaliser arrived in the second half. Mar Ratase worked the ball into the final third and produced a measured finish after a neat exchange on the edge of the area. The goal lifted the home crowd, and Mar Ratase pushed for a winner, but Montecchio Maggiore held firm and nearly stole the points themselves on a late counterattack.

• 51st minute: The Montecchio goalkeeper makes a strong save to deny a shot from the edge of the box.

Tactical story

Mar Ratase built their game around possession and patience. The home side circulated the ball well, used their midfielders to link play and tried to create crossing opportunities from wide positions. Their equaliser came from a move that reflected their best work: quick combination play followed by a finish from a dangerous area.

Montecchio Maggiore were happy to defend deeper after taking the lead. They compressed the space in central areas, invited Mar Ratase forward and looked to strike on the counterattack. That plan nearly produced a second goal, but the visitors could not convert their late chances and had to settle for a draw.

Standout performers

Mar Ratase’s wide midfielder was a constant outlet, beating his marker and delivering dangerous balls into the box. The home side’s equalising scorer also showed composure in a crowded area. For Montecchio Maggiore, the goalkeeper kept his team in the match with a series of saves, while the defensive unit worked hard to withstand sustained pressure in the second half.

Season impact

Both teams add one point to their Serie D totals. Mar Ratase will be pleased with the character shown after falling behind, though they may feel they did enough to win. Montecchio Maggiore will take encouragement from an away point and a resilient defensive performance. In a long season, draws like this can matter, but both sides will know that converting more chances could make the difference in the standings.
