Foligno Calcio produced one of the cleanest away performances of the Serie D round on 11 October 2026, winning 2-0 at Mar Ratase thanks to a disciplined defensive display and two well-taken goals. The visitors controlled the game from the early stages and never allowed their hosts a genuine route back into the contest.

Match Overview

The 21:00 kick-off brought a taut, tactical encounter. Mar Ratase tried to impose themselves early with direct play, but Foligno Calcio's back line read the danger well and turned defensive situations into attacking transitions. The away side's patience was rewarded as the match progressed.

By the closing stages, Foligno were managing the game comfortably, keeping possession and running down the clock with composure that underlined their experience in the division.

Key Moments

• Breakthrough: Foligno Calcio took the lead after a patient build-up, finishing from a central position after drawing defenders out of shape.
• Security: A second goal followed, giving the visitors a cushion that reflected their greater cutting edge in the final third.
• Denied: Mar Ratase's best chances came from set pieces, but the away goalkeeper and defence held firm.
• Game management: In the final 20 minutes, Foligno slowed the tempo and closed the match out without alarm.

Tactical Story

Foligno's shape was compact and well-organised, with two banks of four limiting the space available in central areas. Their pressing triggers were intelligent — they allowed Mar Ratase to circulate the ball in harmless areas before pouncing on loose touches in midfield.

Mar Ratase struggled to connect midfield and attack. Their strikers were frequently isolated, and crosses into the box were dealt with confidently. When the home side did create half-chances, the finishing lacked the precision needed against a well-drilled opponent.

Standout Performers

Foligno's defensive unit deserves the credit for this clean sheet, with the goalkeeper commanding his area and the full-backs balancing defensive duties with support in attack. The goalscorers took their chances efficiently, converting the two clear openings the team created.

For Mar Ratase, the midfielders showed determination in the tackle and the goalkeeper made a number of saves to keep the scoreline respectable.

Season Impact

An away win with a clean sheet is a valuable currency in Serie D, where travel and difficult pitches often level the playing field. Foligno Calcio's three points strengthen their standing and confirm their ability to grind out results on the road.

Mar Ratase remain with work to do, particularly in the attacking third. Creating higher-quality chances and converting pressure into goals will be central to their attempts to move up the standings.
