Lucchese edged a five-goal thriller against ACN Siena Youth at the Stadio Porta Elisa on Sunday evening, winning 3-2 after a dramatic second-half comeback from the visitors. The result lifts Lucchese into the promotion conversation, while Siena Youth are left to reflect on a spirited but ultimately fruitless display.

Match Overview

Lucchese started brightly and took the game to their opponents, using a 4-2-3-1 formation with their attacking midfielder pulling the strings. ACN Siena Youth, fielding a youthful and energetic lineup, adopted a 3-5-2 system designed to press high and disrupt Lucchese's rhythm. The first half was end-to-end, with both goalkeepers called into action early.

Key Moments

Lucchese opened the scoring in the 12th minute when Francesco Moretti finished off a flowing move, side-footing home from the edge of the box. Moretti doubled the lead in the 29th minute, pouncing on a defensive error and rounding the goalkeeper. Siena Youth pulled one back just before half-time through Lorenzo Gori, whose powerful shot deflected in off the post. Early in the second half, Siena Youth equalized when Davide Conti converted a penalty after a foul in the area. The game looked to be heading for a draw, but Lucchese's Matteo Esposito scored the winner in the 84th minute with a header from a corner.

Tactical Story

Lucchese's 4-2-3-1 allowed them to dominate the central areas, with Moretti dropping deep to link play. However, Siena Youth's high press caused problems, forcing turnovers and leading to their penalty. Lucchese's manager switched to a 4-4-2 late on to see out the game, which proved decisive as they scored from a set-piece. Siena Youth's coach was proud of his young side's resilience but rued the "naive mistakes" that cost them.

Standout Players

Francesco Moretti was the standout performer, scoring twice and causing constant problems with his movement. Matteo Esposito's late winner capped a strong all-round display. For Siena Youth, Lorenzo Gori was lively throughout, while goalkeeper Simone Bruni made several impressive saves to keep his team in the contest.

Season Impact

Lucchese move up to third in the Serie D table, level on points with the second-placed side. ACN Siena Youth remain in mid-table, but their performance against one of the league's stronger teams will give them confidence for the challenges ahead. Lucchese's next fixture is a tough away trip, while Siena Youth host a relegation-threatened opponent.
