Ischia Isolaverde 3-0 Melfi: Ruthless Hosts Cruise to Comfortable Victory

Ischia Isolaverde produced one of their most complete performances of the Serie D season on Sunday evening, sweeping aside Melfi 3-0 with a display built on sharp pressing, quick combination play and clinical finishing. The islanders were ahead inside the opening half hour and never looked like surrendering their grip on the match.

For Melfi, it was a difficult night on the road. The visitors struggled to cope with the intensity of Ischia's pressing and were punished for a series of defensive lapses that turned a competitive fixture into a one-sided affair.

Match Overview

Ischia started on the front foot and set the tone almost immediately, winning the ball high up the pitch and forcing Melfi into rushed clearances. The home side's midfield dominated the second balls, and their wide players consistently stretched a back line that never settled into a comfortable rhythm.

Melfi's best spell came just after the interval, when a brief flurry of corners asked questions of the Ischia defence. But the hosts weathered the pressure, added a third goal on the break, and managed the closing stages with real maturity.

Key Moments

• 12' — Early pressure: Ischia forced two consecutive corners as Melfi struggled to clear their lines.
• 27' — Opening goal: A clever through ball split the visiting defence, and the finish was calm and precise into the bottom corner.
• 43' — The second: A flowing move down the left ended with a cross converted at the back post to double the advantage before the break.
• 63' — Melfi's best chance: A free kick from 20 yards curled narrowly over the crossbar.
• 79' — Game over: A counter-attack finished with a composed third goal, capping a fine team performance.

Tactical Story

Ischia lined up with an aggressive high press, and it proved decisive. Melfi's defenders were given almost no time on the ball, and long passes forward were routinely swallowed up by an alert back line. The home side's transitions were quick and purposeful, with midfield runners arriving late in the box to support the attack.

Defensively, Ischia were organised and rarely troubled. Their goalkeeper had one of the quieter evenings of his season, protected by a disciplined unit that communicated well and closed down shooting angles before Melfi could get the ball out of their feet.

Standout Players

The Ischia midfield was the engine room of the win, winning tackles and immediately turning defence into attack. The striker who opened the scoring led the line intelligently, holding the ball up and linking play with the wide runners.

Melfi's goalkeeper kept the scoreline respectable with several good saves, and the visiting captain worked tirelessly in midfield, but too few of his teammates matched that level of intensity over the full 90 minutes.

What It Means

A 3-0 home win is exactly the kind of result that builds momentum in Serie D, where goal difference can decide promotion races and relegation battles alike. Ischia Isolaverde will look back on this as a template performance: aggressive without the ball, efficient with it, and ruthless in front of goal.

Melfi, meanwhile, will need to regroup quickly. Conceding early on the road has been a recurring theme, and correcting that habit will be essential if they are to climb away from the lower reaches of the table.
