Foligno Calcio 1-0 Angelana: Second-half strike decides Serie D contest

Foligno Calcio secured a 1-0 home victory over Angelana in Italian Serie D on Sunday, October 4, 2026. The match, which kicked off at 21:00, was a tight, tactical affair decided by a single goal after the interval. Foligno's patience and defensive discipline proved enough to claim all three points, while Angelana were left to rue a lack of cutting edge in the final third.

With both sides well organised, the first half offered little space in behind. Foligno tried to build patiently from the back, while Angelana looked to press and disrupt rhythm. The breakthrough came when Foligno increased the tempo after the restart, and once ahead, they defended their lead with maturity.

Match overview

The game was played in classic Serie D fashion: compact lines, physical duels, and few clear chances. Foligno had the better of the possession without creating a flood of opportunities, while Angelana's best moments came from set pieces and long throws into the box. The winning goal arrived from a well-constructed attacking move that finally pulled Angelana's defence out of shape.

After taking the lead, Foligno dropped their midfield line slightly deeper and invited Angelana to break them down. The visitors pushed bodies forward in the final fifteen minutes, but Foligno's goalkeeper and centre-backs dealt with the crosses comfortably.

Key moments

• 11' — Foligno's first shot on target: a low drive from outside the box held by the goalkeeper.
• 29' — Angelana head over from a corner in their best chance of the first half.
• 52' — Goal. Foligno break the deadlock with a clever combination on the edge of the area and a precise finish into the far corner. 1-0.
• 66' — Angelana force a scrambling save after a long ball into the box.
• 81' — Foligno almost double the lead on the counter, but the final shot clips the post.
• 90+3' — A last-ditch clearance denies Angelana an equaliser.

Tactical story

Foligno set up with a balanced shape, using their midfield trio to control the centre of the pitch. Their full-backs were selective in joining attacks, which helped them avoid being caught out by Angelana's quick forwards. The winning goal came from a moment of quality rather than a defensive error: a short passing sequence drew Angelana's midfield forward, and the final pass was slipped into the channel.

Angelana's approach was more direct. They attempted to win second balls in midfield and deliver early crosses, but Foligno's centre-backs won most aerial duels. When the visitors did get into wide areas, their delivery was often rushed, allowing Foligno to clear and reset.

Standout performers

Foligno's goalscorer understandably took the headlines, but the defensive midfielders were equally important in breaking up Angelana's attacks. The home goalkeeper also earned his clean sheet with a confident display, claiming crosses and making one important second-half save. Angelana's best player was their energetic right-sided midfielder, who never stopped running and created their most dangerous set-piece delivery.

Season impact

This 1-0 win gives Foligno Calcio a solid home result in Serie D and another clean sheet to build on. For Angelana, it is a narrow defeat that will sting, but their defensive structure suggests they will remain competitive in the division. Foligno's ability to win low-scoring matches could prove crucial as the season progresses and the table becomes more tightly packed.
