Valenzana came from behind to beat Fezzanese 2-1 in an Italian Serie D fixture played on the evening of 4 October 2026, snatching all three points with a composed second-half display that punished the home side for a series of missed chances.

Match Overview

Fezzanese started brightly in front of their own supporters and took the lead during the opening exchanges, pressing high and forcing Valenzana into a string of hurried clearances. The visitors, however, refused to panic. They gradually slowed the tempo, squeezed the space between the lines and equalised before the interval with a well-worked move that cut through the home defence from the right flank.

The second half belonged to Valenzana. With the game stretched and Fezzanese chasing a second goal, the visitors found space in behind and scored what proved to be the winner, then defended their advantage with discipline and maturity.

Key Moments

• Fezzanese opener: a sharp, quick passing sequence ended with a low finish that gave the Valenzana goalkeeper no chance.
• The equaliser: Valenzana responded before half-time, converting a cross from the right with a header at the near post.
• The winner: A turnover in midfield allowed Valenzana to break at speed and finish calmly past the advancing goalkeeper.
• Late pressure: Fezzanese pushed bodies forward in the final fifteen minutes but found the visiting back line resolute.

Tactical Story

Fezzanese set up in an aggressive 4-3-3, aiming to win the ball high and attack quickly through the wide areas. It worked for half an hour, but the home side's forward line became increasingly isolated as Valenzana adjusted their shape, dropping the midfield block deeper and inviting pressure before springing forward on the counter.

Valenzana's 4-4-2 out of possession was the foundation of the result. By keeping the central corridor compact, they forced Fezzanese into hopeful crosses and long-range efforts, and their two strikers worked tirelessly to hold the ball up and relieve pressure when it mattered most.

Standout Performers

Valenzana's central midfielder dictated the rhythm of the second half, winning tackles and distributing intelligently, while the goalscorer's movement in the box proved the difference between the two sides. For Fezzanese, the goalkeeper kept the scoreline respectable with two important saves, and their left winger was the most consistent attacking threat throughout.

What It Means

Three points on the road in Serie D are always precious, and this result gives Valenzana a welcome boost in confidence as the season gathers pace. For Fezzanese, the defeat is a lesson in game management: the performance contained plenty of promise, but a failure to convert territorial dominance into goals ultimately cost them a result they had done enough to earn.
