FC Francavilla secured a 2-1 home victory over Real Forio 2014 in Serie D on Sunday, 25 October 2026, producing a disciplined and occasionally incisive performance to claim all three points. Francavilla led at half-time, was pegged back early in the second period, and then found the winning goal with just over ten minutes remaining.

Match overview

Francavilla started with purpose, controlling possession and looking to attack through the central corridors. Real Forio initially defended in a narrow shape, trying to deny space between the lines, but the hosts’ movement eventually created openings. The first goal arrived midway through the first half after a sustained spell of pressure.

Forio improved after the interval and equalised shortly after the restart, converting a chance that came from a rare breakdown in Francavilla’s defensive organisation. The game then became more open, with both sides trading attacks before Francavilla restored their lead.

Key moments

• 21’ – Francavilla take the lead with a low finish after a neat exchange on the edge of the box.
• 54’ – Real Forio equalise following a quick counter-attack and a composed finish inside the area.
• 76’ – Francavilla score the winner from a well-delivered cross, headed in at the near post.
• 89’ – Forio threaten from a set piece, but Francavilla defend the final ball bravely.

Francavilla’s goalkeeper made one important save in the closing stages, while the home defence blocked a goal-bound effort in stoppage time. The final whistle brought relief rather than dominance, but the result was a fair reward for the hosts’ greater attacking quality over the course of the match.

Tactical story

Francavilla’s midfield pressed effectively and recycled possession well, forcing Forio to defend deeply for long spells. Their use of wide overlaps created space for crosses, and the winning goal came from exactly that pattern. The hosts also showed good patience in build-up, resisting the temptation to force passes into crowded areas.

Real Forio’s best moments came on the counter-attack. Their equaliser underlined how dangerous they can be when they win the ball in midfield and attack quickly. However, they struggled to maintain possession under pressure, and that invited Francavilla to sustain attacks for longer periods.

Standout performers

Francavilla’s centre-forward was a constant problem for the Forio defence, holding the ball up and bringing others into play. The winger who delivered the decisive cross also deserves recognition for his direct running. For Real Forio, the midfielder who drove the counter-attack for the equaliser was their most positive performer, while their goalkeeper kept them in contention with several saves.

Season impact

The win gives Francavilla a valuable home result and strengthens their position in the Serie D group. Home form is often the foundation of a successful campaign, and the manner of this victory — responding to an equaliser and finding a late winner — will please the coaching staff.

Real Forio can take encouragement from their second-half response, but they remain vulnerable when forced to defend for long periods. Both sides will now turn their attention to the next fixture, with Francavilla looking to build momentum and Forio seeking greater consistency.
