USD Latte Dolce claimed a composed 2-0 victory over COS Sarrabus Ogliastra on 7 October 2026, delivering a controlled performance in the Coppa Italia Serie D that was built on defensive discipline and two well-taken goals. It was an all-Sardinian cup tie, and the hosts made home advantage count from the first whistle.

Match Overview

The 21:00 kick-off pitted two island clubs against each other in a knockout format where mistakes are punished quickly, and Latte Dolce approached it exactly in that spirit. Rather than chasing the game, the hosts kept their shape, moved the ball patiently through midfield and waited for openings to appear. COS Sarrabus Ogliastra, travelling from the Ogliastra region, competed well in the early exchanges but gradually found themselves pinned back.

Latte Dolce took the lead before half-time and doubled it after the interval, then managed the closing stages with the maturity of a side that trusted its defensive structure. The clean sheet was as valuable as the goals.

Key Moments

• 23' – 1-0: A patient passing sequence ends with a shot from the edge of the area that beats the goalkeeper low to his left.
• 38': COS Sarrabus Ogliastra's best chance of the first half, a header from a corner that clears the crossbar.
• 54': Latte Dolce's goalkeeper makes the save of the match, pushing a rising effort around the post.
• 66' – 2-0: A quick break down the left is finished at the near post to give the hosts breathing space.
• 81': A late Sarrabus free-kick is cleared off the line as Latte Dolce defend their box.

Tactical Story

Latte Dolce lined up with a midfield trio that prioritised ball retention and positional discipline, and it worked: they rarely lost the ball in dangerous areas and forced their opponents to chase for long spells. The full-backs pushed forward selectively, providing width without exposing the centre-backs, and the front pairing stayed connected rather than drifting apart.

COS Sarrabus Ogliastra's approach relied on direct balls into the channels and second-phase pressure from set pieces. It gave them a handful of half-chances, particularly from corners, but the service into the box was too often hurried and too easily read by a well-organised home defence. When they did find space, Latte Dolce's goalkeeper was equal to it.

Standout Performers

Latte Dolce's central defender was outstanding, winning his aerial duels and stepping into midfield to intercept passes before they reached the strikers. The goalscorers took their chances well, but the game was won in the middle of the park, where the home side's number eight dictated the tempo and repeatedly turned defence into attack with a single forward pass.

For COS Sarrabus Ogliastra, the left winger offered the most consistent threat and was responsible for the visitors' best moments, while their goalkeeper kept the margin respectable with two strong saves in the second half.

What It Means

The win moves Latte Dolce forward in the Coppa Italia Serie D with confidence intact and a defensive record to build on, while COS Sarrabus Ogliastra exit having shown enough going forward to suggest better results lie ahead in league play. For the hosts, the challenge now is to carry this level of control into their Serie D campaign — cup nights like this one are built on exactly the kind of discipline that wins points in the league.
