A.S Andria Bat 1-1 Bisceglie 1913 — the Puglia derby in the Coppa Italia Serie D ended all square, with Andria and Bisceglie sharing the spoils after a fiercely contested cup tie at the Stadio degli Ulivi. Neither side could find a winner in a match that swung on a single moment of quality at each end.

Match Overview

Cup football in southern Italy rarely lacks intensity, and this meeting between two historic Apulian clubs was no exception. Andria, playing in front of their own supporters, started with intent, pressing high and looking to force mistakes from a Bisceglie side that has built its reputation on defensive solidity.

The visitors weathered the early storm and grew into the contest, using their experience in midfield to slow the tempo and frustrate the hosts. By the closing stages, the game had settled into an even contest, with both teams wary of overcommitting and leaving themselves exposed to a knockout blow.

Key Moments

• Andria take the lead: The hosts broke the deadlock with a goal that came from sustained pressure, the ball worked into the box before being dispatched past the goalkeeper.
• Bisceglie respond: The equaliser arrived from a set piece, with a well-directed delivery headed home to level the score and shift the momentum.
• Chances at both ends: Each side had a sight of goal in the closing twenty minutes, but both goalkeepers stood firm.
• Late pressure: Andria pushed for a winner in the final minutes, winning corner after corner, but Bisceglie's defence held.

Tactical Story

Andria's game plan was built on width and tempo. Their full-backs pushed high to create overloads, and the midfield worked hard to recycle possession quickly in the final third. It produced a good volume of attacking play, but the final ball was often rushed, allowing Bisceglie's centre-backs to clear comfortably.

Bisceglie, meanwhile, were content to defend in numbers and attack in transition. Their equaliser demonstrated their greatest strength — dead-ball delivery — and their discipline in the closing stages underlined why they are a difficult team to break down. In a cup format, that kind of resilience is worth its weight in gold.

Standout Players

Andria's goalscorer was their most dangerous outlet, finding space between the lines and forcing two saves from the Bisceglie goalkeeper. Their captain in midfield set the tone with tireless pressing and intelligent distribution.

For Bisceglie, the header who scored the equaliser was the obvious standout, while the goalkeeper's late interventions preserved the draw and kept the tie finely balanced.

What It Means

The draw leaves the cup tie delicately poised. With the return leg to come, both Andria and Bisceglie will feel they have a genuine chance of progressing, and the tactical battle between Andria's width and Bisceglie's set-piece threat will be fascinating to watch again.

For Andria, the frustration will be that their territorial dominance was not converted into a winning margin. For Bisceglie, an away draw in a derby is a result to build on — and in knockout football, staying level going into the second leg is often half the job done.
