USD Casatese produced one of the standout away performances of the Serie D weekend, winning 3-1 at Correggese Calcio on Sunday evening. The visitors were sharper in both boxes, converting their chances with clinical efficiency and defending a second-half onslaught with real resolve to take all three points back to Lombardy.

Correggese had their moments and deserved their goal, but the story of the night was Casatese's ruthlessness. Three well-constructed finishes, each arriving at a psychologically important moment, gave the away side a cushion that the hosts could never quite erase.

Match Overview

The match began at a brisk pace, with Correggese looking to use home advantage and press high up the pitch. That approach created early half-chances but also left space behind the defensive line, and Casatese were quick to exploit it. The visitors sat in a disciplined mid-block, invited pressure, and then broke forward in numbers with direct, vertical passing that repeatedly caught the home side short at the back.

By the interval, the pattern was established: Correggese with more of the ball, Casatese with the better chances. The second half followed a similar script, with the home side pushing more players forward and the away team picking them off on the counter.

Key Moments

• 18th minute: Casatese take the lead, a quick turnover in midfield followed by a composed finish into the bottom corner from the edge of the area.
• 39th minute: Correggese respond with their best spell, forcing two saves in quick succession from the Casatese goalkeeper.
• 52nd minute: The visitors double their advantage, a well-worked move down the left ending with a close-range tap-in at the back post.
• 68th minute: Correggese pull one back, a header from a deep cross that finally beat the visiting keeper and lifted the home crowd.
• 84th minute: Casatese seal it, punishing a stretched home defence with a third goal on the break.

Tactical Story

Casatese's game plan was built on patience and precision. Rather than contest possession for its own sake, they allowed Correggese to circulate the ball in harmless areas and focused their energy on winning it back in the middle third. From there, their front three attacked the space behind the full-backs with relentless running, and the quality of their final pass was the decisive difference between the two teams.

Correggese, by contrast, struggled to break down a compact defensive block. Their build-up play was often slow, allowing Casatese to reorganise, and their crossing from wide areas was repeatedly repelled by a commanding centre-back pairing. When the home side did commit numbers forward in search of an equaliser, they left themselves exposed — a risk that Casatese punished ruthlessly in the closing stages.

Standout Players

The Casatese striker who opened the scoring set the tone with intelligent movement and clinical finishing, while the attacking midfielder operating behind him was the game's most creative influence, linking play and delivering the pass that produced the decisive second goal.

For Correggese, the wide midfielder who delivered the assist for their goal was their most dangerous outlet, consistently beating his marker and putting dangerous balls into the box. Their goalkeeper kept the scoreline respectable with a string of important saves, particularly during the visitors' best spell early in the second half.

Season Impact

Three points on the road, and three goals to go with them, represent a major boost for Casatese's ambitions in Serie D this season. Away victories of this quality are the currency of promotion pushes, and the manner of the performance — disciplined, efficient and unflustered — will please the coaching staff enormously.

For Correggese, the defeat is a reminder of how punishing this division can be. They created enough to take something from the game but were undone by defensive lapses at the worst possible moments. Tightening up at the back, particularly when chasing matches, will be the priority in the coming weeks.
