Conegliano produced a composed second-half comeback to beat Calcio Schio 2-1 in their Italian Serie D fixture on Sunday 25 October 2026, turning a difficult opening period into an important home win under the lights. The result gives Conegliano three valuable points in the 2026-27 Serie D campaign and leaves Schio frustrated after a promising start at the Stadio Comunale.

Match Overview

Schio began with more urgency and were rewarded after 17 minutes when Matteo Rigon intercepted a loose pass in midfield and finished low into the far corner. Conegliano struggled to find rhythm for much of the first half, but the home side equalised six minutes before the interval when Luca Furlan rose highest to head in a corner from the right.

The second half was a different contest. Conegliano pushed their full-backs higher, pressed Schio’s first pass more aggressively and created a steady stream of half-chances. The decisive moment arrived in the 78th minute when Andrea Bortoluzzi collected the ball on the edge of the area, shifted onto his stronger foot and curled a precise effort beyond the goalkeeper. Schio responded with late set pieces, but Conegliano defended their box with discipline to close out the win.

Tactical Story

Schio’s 3-5-2 initially caused problems, with their wing-backs stretching Conegliano and creating space between the lines. Conegliano struggled to control second balls and were forced into a more reactive first-half display. The turning point came when the hosts adjusted their midfield triangle, pushing one central player higher to disrupt Schio’s build-up.

That change allowed Conegliano to sustain attacks in the second half. Their 4-3-3 became more fluid, with the wide forwards drifting inside and the full-backs providing width. Schio dropped deeper as the half wore on, and their counter-attacks became less frequent. Conegliano’s patience in possession, combined with their improved pressing, made the comeback feel increasingly inevitable.

Standout Players

Andrea Bortoluzzi was the match-winner, offering movement and composure in the final third. Luca Furlan delivered the equaliser and gave Conegliano a foothold before half-time, while the home goalkeeper made a crucial late save. For Schio, Matteo Rigon was their most dangerous outlet, combining intelligent runs with a sharp finish for the opening goal.

Serie D Table Impact

The three points lift Conegliano into the playoff conversation in the Serie D standings and reinforce their home form. Schio remain in the lower mid-table region and will view the match as a missed opportunity after leading early. With the Serie D season still taking shape, both sides will know that narrow results like this can shape the mood around a campaign.
