Città di Gela Demolish ASD Licata in Four-Goal Show

Città di Gela produced a ruthless attacking display to thrash ASD Licata 4-0 in their Italian Serie D encounter on 25 October 2026. A dominant first-half performance set the tone, and the home side never looked back, claiming a comprehensive victory that will boost their confidence and goal difference.

From the opening minutes, Gela were on the front foot, pressing high and moving the ball quickly. Licata struggled to cope with the intensity, and the home side’s early pressure was rewarded with a goal inside the first 15 minutes. It was a sign of things to come, as Gela continued to carve open their opponents with ease.

Match Overview

The first half was a one-sided affair. Gela’s midfield dominated possession, and their forwards constantly found space between Licata’s defensive lines. The second goal arrived midway through the half, a well-worked team move finished off by Alessandro Costa. Two more goals followed before the break, effectively ending the contest by half-time.

In the second half, Gela took their foot off the gas, managing the game and conserving energy. Licata improved slightly, but they never threatened to mount a comeback. The home side’s defence remained solid, and the clean sheet was the perfect complement to their attacking fireworks.

Key Moments

• 12' – Davide Marino opens the scoring with a low drive from the edge of the box.
• 28' – Alessandro Costa doubles the lead after a slick passing move.
• 39' – A third goal arrives from a corner, headed in by Simone Vitale.
• 44' – Marino scores his second of the night to make it 4-0 before half-time.

Tactical Story

Gela’s 4-2-3-1 formation overwhelmed Licata’s midfield, with the attacking trio interchanging positions and creating overloads on the flanks. Licata’s back four was pulled apart by quick passing and movement, and they failed to adjust. Gela’s clinical finishing was the difference, but the tactical discipline and intensity of their press were equally impressive.

Standout Players

Davide Marino was the star of the show with two goals, while Alessandro Costa and Simone Vitale also got on the scoresheet. In midfield, Lorenzo Ferraro controlled the tempo and provided two assists. For Licata, it was a night to forget, though goalkeeper Paolo Ricci made several saves to prevent an even heavier defeat.

League Impact

The emphatic win strengthens Città di Gela’s position in the Serie D standings and sends a warning to their promotion rivals. ASD Licata, on the other hand, will need to regroup quickly after a heavy defeat. The result highlights the gap in quality on the night and leaves Licata with plenty to work on defensively.
