Castrumfavara and Reggina shared the points in a pulsating 2-2 draw in Italian Serie D on October 28, 2026, as the hosts surrendered a two-goal advantage and Reggina completed a determined second-half comeback.

Match Overview

The Serie D fixture began at a high tempo, with Castrumfavara pressing aggressively and forcing Reggina into early mistakes. The hosts were rewarded for their intensity when they took the lead in the 12th minute, finishing calmly after a quick move down the right. Reggina responded with more possession but struggled to find rhythm against a well-drilled home defense.

Castrumfavara doubled their advantage in the 38th minute, capitalizing on a loose ball inside the penalty area and converting from close range. At 2-0, the home side looked in control, but the match was far from over. Reggina regrouped at halftime and returned with a sharper edge, setting up a dramatic final half-hour.

Key Moments

• 12th minute: Castrumfavara open the scoring with a composed finish after a flowing attacking move.
• 38th minute: The hosts double their lead, pouncing on a defensive scramble inside the box.
• 61st minute: Reggina pull one back with a well-placed strike from the edge of the area.
• 84th minute: Reggina equalize, heading home from a dangerous set-piece delivery.
• 90th minute: Castrumfavara push for a winner, but Reggina’s goalkeeper makes a crucial late save.

Tactical Story

Castrumfavara’s first-half plan worked almost perfectly. They pressed high, won second balls in midfield, and attacked with directness whenever they recovered possession. The two-goal cushion allowed them to sit slightly deeper after the break, but that shift invited pressure from a Reggina side that began to dominate territory.

Reggina’s tactical adjustment was key. They moved the ball more quickly from side to side, stretched the home defense, and committed more bodies into the box. The introduction of fresh legs in wide areas gave them better service from crossing positions, and once they scored the first goal, the momentum swung firmly in their favor. Castrumfavara, meanwhile, struggled to keep possession long enough to relieve the pressure, and their earlier control slipped away in the final 20 minutes.

Standout Performers

Castrumfavara’s forward line caused problems throughout the first half, with the leading striker holding the ball up well and bringing teammates into play. The home goalkeeper also made several important stops, including a late save that preserved a point. For Reggina, the midfield engine was central to the comeback, driving forward and distributing intelligently under pressure.

The Reggina substitute who arrived in the second half changed the game’s rhythm, offering width and direct running that stretched the Castrumfavara back line. His delivery led to the equalizing goal, capping a strong individual impact from the bench.

Serie D Table Impact

The 2-2 result will feel like two points dropped for Castrumfavara, who had controlled large parts of the first half and led 2-0. For Reggina, the draw represents a show of character and a valuable away point in the Italian Serie D standings. Both sides will take lessons from the match: Castrumfavara must manage leads more effectively, while Reggina can build on the resilience shown in their second-half fightback.

With the Serie D season continuing, the point keeps both teams in the thick of the early-season conversation, and the performance will give Reggina confidence that they can compete even when not at their best for the full 90 minutes.
