Brusaporto Edge Fiorenzuola 1-0 in Tight Serie D Contest

Calcio Brusaporto secured a hard-fought 1-0 victory over US Fiorenzuola in Italian Serie D on September 20, 2026, thanks to a second-half strike from Luca Ferrari. The win lifts Brusaporto into the upper reaches of the table, while Fiorenzuola were left to rue a series of missed chances in a game that was decided by fine margins.

Match Overview

Brusaporto came into the match with a reputation for defensive solidity, and they showed why at their home ground. Fiorenzuola, known for their patient build-up play, dominated possession in the first half but struggled to break down a well-organised back line. The only goal arrived in the 67th minute, and from that moment on, the home side defended with discipline and grit.

Key Moments

• 18' – Fiorenzuola chance: A free-kick from the edge of the box was tipped over by the Brusaporto goalkeeper.
• 42' – Brusaporto warning: Ferrari forced a smart save from the visiting keeper after a quick counter-attack.
• 67' – Brusaporto goal: Luca Ferrari controlled a long ball, turned his marker, and fired a low shot into the far corner.
• 84' – Fiorenzuola penalty appeal: Claims for a handball were waved away by the referee, much to the visitors' frustration.

Tactical Story

Brusaporto lined up in a compact 4-4-2, prioritising shape and denying space between the lines. Fiorenzuola used a 4-2-3-1 and looked to overload the left side, but they lacked a cutting edge in the final third. After taking the lead, Brusaporto dropped deeper and invited pressure, relying on quick transitions through Ferrari and the lively winger Matteo Galli.

Standout Players

Luca Ferrari was the match-winner, his goal a moment of individual quality in an otherwise tight affair. Brusaporto's centre-back pairing of Simone Rota and Davide Colombo was immense, heading away countless crosses. For Fiorenzuola, playmaker Francesco De Luca tried to unlock the defence but found little room to operate.

Season Impact

With this victory, Brusaporto climbs to fifth in the Serie D standings, signalling their intent to challenge for promotion. Fiorenzuola remain in twelfth, and although they played some neat football, their inability to convert possession into goals remains a concern for the coaching staff.
