Borgosesia 4-2 ASD Imperia served up a six-goal thriller in Italian Serie D on Sunday, with Borgosesia’s attacking quality ultimately overwhelming a resilient Imperia side. The hosts scored twice early, survived a second-half fightback and then sealed the win with a late fourth goal.

Match overview

Borgosesia started at a furious pace. Their front line pressed aggressively, their midfield moved the ball quickly and Imperia’s defence was forced into repeated clearances. The hosts were two goals up inside the opening 25 minutes, first through a close-range finish and then from a sweeping move that ended with a shot from the edge of the box.

Imperia responded well before half-time, pulling one goal back after a spell of pressure. That goal changed the mood of the match and gave the visitors belief. Borgosesia restored their two-goal advantage early in the second half, but Imperia refused to go away and made it 3-2 with a well-taken goal in the final quarter of the game.

Key moments

• Fast start: Borgosesia scored twice inside the first 25 minutes to take control.
• Imperia response: The visitors pulled one back before half-time and grew in confidence.
• Second-half cushion: Borgosesia made it 3-1 after a quick attacking transition.
• Late drama: Imperia scored again to set up a tense finish, but Borgosesia sealed the win with a fourth goal.

Tactical story

Borgosesia’s game was built on width and direct running. Their wide players repeatedly attacked the space behind Imperia’s full-backs, and their central midfielders were quick to support the attacks. That approach created a steady stream of chances, even if it left them exposed at times when Imperia broke forward.

Imperia’s persistence was impressive. After a difficult opening, they adjusted their shape, pressed higher and began to win the ball in more advanced areas. Their two goals came from exactly that kind of pressure, but Borgosesia’s extra quality in the final third proved decisive.

Standout performers

Borgosesia’s centre-forward was central to the win, leading the line with strength and intelligence and creating space for his teammates. The attacking midfielder also impressed with two assists. For Imperia, the No. 10 was the brightest spark, driving forward and playing a key role in both of his side’s goals.

Season impact

The victory gives Borgosesia three valuable points and a timely boost in the Serie D standings. Scoring four goals will do wonders for confidence, though the coaching staff will want to tighten things up defensively after conceding twice. Imperia leave with no points but with credit for their fighting spirit. In a long Serie D season, performances like this can still provide a platform for better results ahead.
