Bassano claimed a narrow 1-0 victory over ASD Brian Lignano in Italian Serie D on 2026-10-11, with a second-half goal settling a hard-fought contest at 21:00. The hosts were disciplined and efficient, scoring the game's only goal and then defending their lead with maturity to secure all three points.

Bassano find the breakthrough

The first half was a cagey affair, with both sides cautious in possession and unwilling to commit too many players forward. Bassano looked to build through midfield, while Brian Lignano sat deep and looked to counter. Chances were limited, but Bassano grew into the game as the half progressed. The decisive moment came in the 58th minute when captain Andrea Fontana arrived at the back post to meet a deep cross, heading the ball back across goal and into the net.

Brian Lignano responded with their best spell of the match, pushing full-backs forward and sending crosses into the box. Bassano dropped into a compact block and defended their penalty area with determination, blocking shots and clearing danger. The visitors had a late appeal for a penalty turned away, and Bassano's goalkeeper made a smart save in stoppage time to preserve the clean sheet. When the final whistle blew, the home side had a valuable win.

• 19' — Bassano's striker forces a low save from the Brian Lignano goalkeeper.

Tactical story

Bassano's approach was patient and structured. They circulated the ball in midfield, looking for gaps in Brian Lignano's defensive shape, and were rewarded when a wide overload created the cross for the winning goal. After scoring, they became more conservative, protecting the central areas and forcing Brian Lignano to play around them rather than through them. The visitors had plenty of the ball in the final 20 minutes but struggled to create clear chances against a well-drilled defence.

Standout players

Andrea Fontana was the hero for Bassano, leading by example with the winning goal and helping his team manage the game in the closing stages. The goalkeeper was also vital, making a late save that proved just as important as the goal. In defence, Bassano's centre-backs were commanding in the air and calm under pressure. For ASD Brian Lignano, the midfielder who drove their late attacks was their best performer, but the team lacked a decisive edge in the final third.

What it means in the Serie D table

The three points lift Bassano in the Serie D standings and continue their push for a strong season. For ASD Brian Lignano, the defeat is a narrow one that will be frustrating, but their performance showed enough to suggest they can compete in the division. In a league where home form is often the foundation of a promotion challenge, Bassano's ability to win without playing at their best is a promising sign.

Bassano will look to build on this result in their next fixture, while Brian Lignano must turn possession into goals if they are to climb the table. This 1-0 scoreline may have been tight, but it could prove significant in the final reckoning of the Serie D season.
