Polisportiva Ossese claimed a well-earned 2-0 away win against Atletico Calcio Afragolese in Italian Serie D on Sunday, 4 October 2026. The 20:00 match was settled by two goals and a disciplined defensive performance, with Ossese taking their chances and then protecting their lead with maturity.

Atletico Calcio Afragolese had periods of pressure, especially in the second half, but they could not find a way through a resilient Ossese back line. The visitors were organised, compact and dangerous on the counter, and the final score reflects their efficiency in both boxes.

Match overview

The opening stages were cagey, with both teams cautious about committing too many players forward. Ossese gradually gained control by pressing in midfield and forcing Afragolese into long passes. The breakthrough came before half-time, giving Ossese a lead to defend and a clear tactical advantage.

Afragolese responded after the break by pushing their full-backs higher and sending more crosses into the box. But Ossese’s centre-backs dealt with the aerial threat well, and the goalkeeper was alert when needed. The second goal arrived on the counter, effectively ending Afragolese’s hopes of a comeback.

Key moments

• 36th minute – Ossese take the lead: A quick exchange on the edge of the box opened up space, and the finish was placed beyond the goalkeeper.
• 52nd minute – Afragolese pressure builds: A shot from distance was pushed wide as the home side searched for an equaliser.
• 71st minute – Ossese score the second: A fast break down the right ended with a low cross and a simple tap-in.
• 85th minute – Afragolese denied: A header from a corner was cleared off the line as Ossese held firm.

Tactical story

Ossese’s game plan was built on defensive solidity and quick transitions. They defended in a compact 4-4-2 shape, closed the central lanes and forced Afragolese to play wide. Once they won the ball, they moved it forward quickly, targeting the space behind the home side’s advanced full-backs.

Afragolese struggled to create clear chances through the middle. Their best moments came from set-pieces and crosses, but Ossese’s defence remained calm and well-organised. The second goal was a perfect example of the visitors’ approach: absorb pressure, win the ball, and attack with purpose.

Standout players

Ossese’s striker was the match-winner, scoring the opening goal and playing a key role in the second with intelligent movement. Their central midfielder controlled the rhythm of the game, winning tackles and distributing the ball calmly. The goalkeeper also deserved credit for a clean sheet and a crucial save at 1-0.

For Atletico Calcio Afragolese, the left winger was their most persistent threat, delivering several dangerous crosses. The captain tried to drive the team forward from midfield, but he was often surrounded by Ossese players and struggled to find space.
