ASD Terranuova Traiana edged Scandicci 1-0 in a tense Serie D encounter, with a late goal settling a match that had looked destined to end level. The home side stayed patient against a stubborn Scandicci defence and finally found the breakthrough in the closing stages. The win gives Terranuova Traiana a valuable three points and highlights their ability to grind out results even when the performance is not entirely fluent.

Match overview

Scandicci arrived with a clear plan: defend compactly, slow the game down and look for chances from set pieces. For long periods it worked. Terranuova Traiana dominated possession but struggled to create clear openings, with their crosses often cleared and their shots from distance kept to a minimum. The match turned in the final 15 minutes when the home side increased the tempo and found space in behind the visiting defence.

Key moments

• First half: Terranuova Traiana controlled the ball but was restricted to efforts from outside the box.
• Scandicci chance: A rare counter-attack gave the visitors a sight of goal, but the shot was blocked inside the area.
• Decisive goal: The home side broke the deadlock late on after a quick combination on the edge of the box, finishing calmly past the goalkeeper.
• Final minutes: Scandicci pushed forward in search of an equaliser, but Terranuova Traiana defended their box with determination.

Tactical story

Terranuova Traiana’s challenge was to find a way through a deep and organised defence. Their full-backs pushed high, and the midfield tried to create overloads on the wings, but Scandicci’s back line remained disciplined. The introduction of fresh legs in the second half added energy and movement, and the winning goal came from exactly that: a quicker combination, a runner into the box and a composed finish. Scandicci will feel they defended well for long spells, but they could not hold out.

Standout performers

Terranuova Traiana’s substitute made a clear impact, bringing urgency and linking play in the final third. The central midfielder was also influential, keeping possession and recycling the ball intelligently. For Scandicci, the goalkeeper produced several saves and commanded the area well, while the centre-backs dealt with a high volume of crosses before the late breakthrough.

What it means

The win keeps ASD Terranuova Traiana moving in the right direction and shows the value of patience in Serie D, where tight games are often decided by one moment. Scandicci can take encouragement from their defensive organisation, but the team needs to find more attacking output if they are to turn narrow defeats into draws and wins. For Terranuova Traiana, the challenge now is to build on this result and carry the same composure into their next fixture.
