ASD Sporting Trestina 2-0 ASD Termoli Calcio — a controlled, professional home performance. Sporting Trestina defeated Termoli Calcio 2-0 on Sunday 27 September 2026, with two second-half goals rewarding a display of patience and discipline in front of a home crowd of roughly 350 at the Comunale in Trestina.

Match overview

The first half was a chess match. Termoli arrived with a clear plan: defend in a compact block, deny space between the lines and look to spring forward on the break. For forty-five minutes it worked almost perfectly, and Trestina found themselves recycling possession without ever seriously threatening.

The hosts, to their credit, did not panic. They kept the ball moving, kept their full-backs high and waited for the gaps to appear.

Key moments

• Half-time: Sporting Trestina 0-0 Termoli.
• 52' — The breakthrough. A cleverly disguised pass released the right winger, whose low cross was turned in from close range. The deadlock was broken and Termoli's game plan was suddenly obsolete.
• 68' — Trestina double the lead. A second goal of real quality, struck first time from the edge of the area after a short corner was worked back into the box.
• 85' — Termoli's best chance. A free kick from twenty-two yards clipped the top of the crossbar, the visitors' only genuine sight of goal all evening.

Tactical story

Trestina's shape was the foundation of the win. With a disciplined back four and a midfield screen that rarely allowed Termoli's forwards to receive the ball facing goal, the hosts effectively removed the counter-attack from the equation.

Once they went ahead, they managed the game expertly. Rather than chasing a third goal, they tightened their lines, kept possession in safe areas and forced Termoli to come out — which in turn created the space for the second goal. It was a mature, well-coached performance.

Standout performers

The Trestina midfield dictated the tempo throughout, winning second balls and recycling possession with real intelligence. The winger who provided the assist for the opening goal was the game's most dangerous attacker, repeatedly beating his marker on the outside.

For Termoli, the goalkeeper deserved credit for a string of saves that kept the scoreline respectable, and the centre-back pairing coped well with long spells of pressure before finally being undone by the quality of the opening goal.

What it means for the table

A home win with a clean sheet is exactly the template Trestina will want to repeat across the season. It keeps them moving in the right direction and underlines their defensive solidity, the quality on which any promotion push is built.

Termoli leave with nothing, but there were enough disciplined elements in their defensive work to suggest the travelling form will improve. The concern is the attacking output: a single shot on target is unlikely to win many Serie D fixtures.
