ASD Monastir and Trastevere Calcio Play Out Entertaining 2-2 Draw

ASD Monastir and Trastevere Calcio shared the spoils in a 2-2 draw in Italian Serie D on Saturday evening, with a late equaliser denying Monastir a valuable home victory. The match was played at a high tempo and produced four goals, several fine saves and a tense finish.

Monastir led twice, first through Matteo Serra in the opening stages and again after Luca Fadda restored their advantage in the second half. Trastevere kept pushing and found a deserved leveller in the 88th minute through Davide Ricci, leaving both sides with mixed feelings after an end-to-end contest.

Match Overview

ASD Monastir started strongly and took the lead in the 9th minute when Matteo Serra finished from inside the penalty area. Trastevere responded well and equalised in the 31st minute through Alessandro Conti, whose shot took a slight deflection on its way past the goalkeeper.

The second half was more open. Monastir regained the lead in the 57th minute when Luca Fadda converted a well-placed cross. Trastevere pushed more players forward in response, and their persistence paid off late on when Davide Ricci scored with a low finish to make it 2-2.

Key Moments

• 9th minute – Monastir take the lead: Matteo Serra finished calmly after a neat attacking move.
• 31st minute – Trastevere equalise: Alessandro Conti found space on the edge of the box and scored.
• 57th minute – Monastir go ahead again: Luca Fadda converted from close range after a good cross.
• 88th minute – Trastevere level: Davide Ricci kept his composure to score a late equaliser.

Tactical Story

Monastir played with direct intent, looking to get the ball forward quickly and attack the spaces behind Trastevere’s defence. That approach worked well in the opening exchanges and again early in the second half. However, Monastir’s tendency to drop deeper after taking the lead allowed Trastevere to build sustained pressure.

Trastevere were patient in possession and used their wide players effectively, stretching the home defence and creating crossing opportunities. The introduction of fresh attacking legs in the second half added urgency, and their late goal was a reward for their persistence. Monastir will be disappointed with their game management in the final minutes.

Standout Players

Luca Fadda was a constant threat for Monastir and took his goal well, while Matteo Serra set the tone with an early strike. Davide Ricci was Trastevere’s key figure in the second half, and his late equaliser underlined his importance to the side. Both goalkeepers also made important saves in a match that could have produced even more goals.

What the Result Means

The Serie D standings remain competitive, and this draw does little to separate the two sides in the table. Monastir will view it as two points dropped after leading twice, while Trastevere will take confidence from another resilient performance. The head-to-head record between these teams is now finely balanced, and the return fixture could prove important later in the season.
