ASD Licata secured a hard-fought 1-0 victory over ASD Ragusa Calcio in a Sicilian derby that delivered tension, commitment, and one decisive moment. The single goal was enough to separate two teams who know each other intimately, and it handed Licata three valuable points in front of their home support.

Match Overview

Derbies in Serie D are rarely straightforward, and this was no exception. Licata's discipline and defensive organization proved the foundation of the win, while Ragusa battled throughout without ever finding the equaliser their effort perhaps deserved. The 21:00 kick-off had the atmosphere of a genuine occasion, with both sides aware of what was at stake.

Key Moments

• Opening phase: A cautious, physical start with neither team willing to commit too many bodies forward.
• The breakthrough: Licata found the goal that would ultimately settle the game, converting a well-constructed attacking move.
• Ragusa's pursuit: The visitors increased the tempo, pushing men forward and forcing a series of set pieces.
• Late resistance: Licata defended their box with resolve, clearing their lines and running down the clock.

Tactical Story

Licata's approach was built on compact defending and quick counter-attacks, a formula that suited a derby where space was always going to be at a premium. Ragusa tried to impose themselves through possession, but struggled to break down a well-drilled defensive block. The hosts' willingness to defend their lead as a unit was the defining feature of the night.

Standout Performers

Licata's back line and goalkeeper shared the plaudits, producing a clean sheet in the most demanding of fixtures. The goalscorer's contribution was obviously decisive, while Ragusa's midfielders showed energy and invention even as their team chased the game.

Table and Season Impact

Claiming a derby win is worth more than just three points — it builds confidence and strengthens the bond between squad and supporters. Licata's standing in the Serie D table receives a welcome boost. Ragusa, despite the loss, can take heart from a performance that showed fight and organisation on the road.
