ASD Imperia claimed a convincing 2-0 home victory over Celle Varazze in Italian Serie D on the evening of 25 October 2026, using a disciplined display and two well-taken goals to secure all three points. The win gave Imperia a timely boost in the league standings and left Celle Varazze searching for answers after a difficult away trip.

Match overview

Played under the lights, the contest was controlled for long spells by the home side. Imperia set the tone early with aggressive pressing and quick ball circulation, forcing Celle Varazze into a series of hurried clearances. The visitors defended in a compact block but struggled to retain possession long enough to relieve pressure, and Imperia’s dominance eventually translated into goals.

Key moments

• 23rd minute: Imperia broke the deadlock when Matteo Ferrero met a low cross from the right and guided the ball into the bottom corner.
• 41st minute: Celle Varazze’s best chance of the first half arrived from a set piece, but a header drifted just wide of the far post.
• 67th minute: Luca Bianchi doubled the lead with a composed finish after a neat exchange on the edge of the penalty area.
• 84th minute: Imperia goalkeeper Andrea Costa preserved the clean sheet with a sharp save at his near post.

Tactical story

Imperia’s 4-3-3 shape worked effectively, with the midfield trio winning second balls and allowing the full-backs to push high. Celle Varazze tried to counter through the channels, but the home side’s rest defence was well organised. As the match wore on, Imperia managed the tempo intelligently, slowing the game when needed and avoiding unnecessary risk after taking a two-goal lead.

Standout players

Ferrero was a constant threat in the attacking third, while Bianchi’s movement between the lines caused problems throughout. In defence, Costa’s late save underlined a professional performance from the Imperia back line. For Celle Varazze, the goalkeeper made several important stops to keep the scoreline respectable.

Table and season impact

The three points strengthen Imperia’s position in the upper half of the Serie D table and provide momentum for the coming fixtures. For Celle Varazze, the defeat highlights the need for greater cutting edge away from home as they look to climb away from the lower reaches of the standings.
